Vehicle Description
2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup
Dodge had technically been producing trucks since 1917, but their
1981 pickups were the first ones to sport the Ram name. In order to
signify this, Dodge slapped a ram's head hood ornament on the
trucks after Lee Iacocca, Chrysler's President and CEO at the time,
decided it was a good mascot.
For consignment a powerful Dodge Ram 1500 (5.7 Liter Hemi Engine)
pickup, with plenty of extras to add to the already red eye candy.
This two-owner truck has not been driven in the rain, and always
garaged between the two owners. A shaved handle gate with a
clamshell hard cover for the bed, custom exhaust, bagged rear
suspension, LED taillights, and plenty of other goodies added on
since its original purchase. A unique, 1 of a kind version of the
touch RAM 1500 Hemi.
Exterior
With nary a speck of rust anywhere, this 2003 truck has recently
been bathed in factory Flame Red, then wet sanded and buffed to
perfection. Up front the massive grille and bumper setup looks like
a large freight train coming right at you. Horizontal ribbed
grille, and a honeycombed lower trio intake in the bumper, along
with the scooped hood, and you'd best get out of this freight
train's way. Aftermarket ground effects panels are added to the
lowers, and the handle was shaved from the rear gate, as well as
the addition of the hard clamshell body matching cargo area cover
that locks securely. With this new paint and meticulous wet sanding
and buffing, we were definitely in the deep end of the pool with
regards to paint. Gaps are being perfectly minded throughout,
however, we do notice a large scrape that was touched up on the
driver's front fender flare and a noticeable scuff on the
passenger's side of the front bumper. Hanging from either door are
shorty sport mirrors, and on the tail, we note LED tail lighting.
20-inch replica SRT rims are now on all 4 corners, showing just a
smidgen nicer than the stock SRT's. Exhaust cutouts are seen on the
rockers and the driver's side is electrically actuated. Alas
though, the dual exhaust exits out the rear of this truck, the
former being for show only. The spare on this truck is in the bed,
due to the aftermarket rear bumper limiting access to the normal
underneath mounted spare.
Interior
Climbing into the inside we pass custom brushed aluminum panels for
the doors embedded into the black molded vinyl, and housing the
power door locks, windows, and side mirror adjustments. Even a
custom door handle for the inside has been added, and the speakers
in the doors have a polished ring for the exteriors. Wide supple
leather buckets grace the passenger compartment, and we note a
power panel on the bottoms of these chairs to get it just right
baby bear. An extra-large centrally located console is between
these buckets offering up plenty of square footage for whatever you
want. The white-faced gauge cluster is all original and very clean,
and there is an aftermarket air/fuel ratio gauge mounted to the "A"
pillar. A small storage area is behind the seats, and for the bed,
it's lined with a plastic liner on the bed and sides.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a very clean engine bay with a 5.7 liter V8
monster shoehorned within it. It has EFI and a 5-45RFE 5-speed
automatic transmission on the back. The rear axle sports 3.92
gears.
Undercarriage
The underside is fine and dandy on the no rust condition front and
noted are the rear bagged suspension working with the leaf springs.
On front we see independent coil springs and power disc brakes are
on all 4 corners. Exhaling is through 2-1/2-inch stainless piping
with catbacks, and 3-inch stainless turndowns on back. Just fine
for the undercarriage, strong and sturdy.
Drive-Ability
King of the road would be adequate for my experience behind the
wheel on this one, all customized out, and many extras, shining
like a freshly picked apple. She fired right up, and ran like a big
truck should, gave me a slight kick in the pants with acceleration,
a slight tightening of the shoulder belt on the panic stopping, and
had a nice smooth ride at cruise speed. All functions were working
swimmingly however we did notice that the check engine light was
on.
Super-duper on this customized 1500 Hemi cargo skate. All
beautifully preserved, well maintained and well cared for. Not your
typical RAM 1500, and an eye catcher, and head turner ready to butt
heads with the best of them.
