Vehicle Description
This 1968 Plymouth Fury III is the full-size drop-top classic with
rebuilt V8 power, a cool color combo, and it's all offered for
quite an obtainable price.
Stacked headlights, crisp overhangs, and a blocky stance gave the
fourth-generation Plymouth Fury an instant presence. Plus, the
bumpers are terrific. The front is a form-hugging unit that's
notched to accept those mean-looking headlights. And the rear is
just as imposing with the trunk pointed in the middle that seems to
perfectly emphasize Plymouth's pointed logo. Of course, the
brightwork that you might just notice first is the upgraded set of
18-inch Foose wheels that give this a true cruiser stance. The car
was updated later in life to a tasteful shade of red that has the
vibrant style you want in a sunshine-style classic. But what we
like most about this one is there's a sense of how much care this
car has received over the years when you see the straightness of
the sheet metal on this exceptionally long Plymouth. In fact, the
car's length is emphasized by the trim running from stem to stern.
And the white insert goes well with the bright white convertible
top to make for a stylish cruiser.
And because the white top is part of a well-coordinated look,
you'll be quite happy to see that it powers down to reveal a full
white interior. The seats are equal parts style and comfort with
two wide benches that have a button-top presentation that matches
the side panels. A full-size machine means there's plenty of room
to take everyone along for a ride, but the driver still gets
priority thanks to a fold-down center armrest. The grippy classic
steering wheel and auxiliary gauge trio are part of a well-done
driver's setup. There are nice classic details, like the
color-matched convertible tonneau and the AM radio is still there
for display. This was even a factory A/C car and the compressor
comes with the sale.
The dark engine bay funnels your attention to the bright and tidy
motor in the middle. This 318 cubic-inch V8 is said to have been
rebuilt only about 3k miles ago. More than just look good, this has
been upgraded with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor w/electric
choke and an Edelbrock intake. It fires up readily and the dual
exhaust has a sweet rumble. And features like power steering,
modern sport tires, and a smooth-shifting three-speed automatic
transmission means this is ready to hit the road.
This is a well-crafted and well-priced Mopar convertible. So if you
love driving a rarely-seen classic, this is an irresistible deal.
