RB Collection is pleased to offer this well preserved and attractive example of a performance car for 1966, the Pontiac GTO. The GTO became a separate Pontiac model in 1966, instead of being an "option package" on the Tempest LeMans. The entire GM "A" body intermediate line was restyled that year, gaining more curvaceous styling with kicked-up rear fender lines for a "Coke-bottle" look, and a slightly "tunneled" backlight. The taillight featured a louvered cover, only seen on the GTO.
With the PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) documentation available (VIN#242076B137166), this Pontiac GTO was originally equipped with a 389/360 hp V8 engine and 3/2 bbl carburetor. Retaining the 3/2 bbl carburetor configuration, the car is now equipped with a 421 engine (casting#9778791) making the car even more powerful and attractive. Complementing the very desirable package the car is equipped from new with the 4speed manual transmission (casting # 3885010).
Retaining its original Burgundy color, this authentic muscle car presents in excellent condition, featuring straight body panels, good gaps, with no bundle or body work all over the car. Doors and decklids are properly aligned and shut with a solid, satisfying feel. The chrome and badges are all in excellent condition, showing no pits, corrosion, or dings.
Inside, the Black upholstery is in outstanding condition. Front and rear seats show no signs of wear or any damage, appearing fresh and unworn. Door, interior quarter panels and Black carpet are likewise in superb condition, with original and correct mats showcasing the “Pontiac” logo. The quality detailing extends to the trunk and engine bay.
This Pontiac runs smoothly. The GTO features original power steering and power brakes for excellent, easy, and safe handling. It is a real joy to drive, thanks to regular maintenance and care.
