Vehicle Description
This 1950 GMC 100 5-Window is a very cool pickup that has a classic
style everywhere from the engine bay to the wood bed rails. But
while it feels like a true '50s machine, they also know you want to
show off this vintage attitude everywhere. That's why it's also a
more comfortable cruiser with air conditioning, Bluetooth, a backup
camera, and plenty of more added features.
This truck was subject to a multi-year restoration that was
complete in 2015. And there have even been investments and
improvements since then. The result is a detailed list of over $17k
spent over the last decade getting a truck to look this attractive.
We even have a restoration photos book that documents the full
journey. But all you need to do is take one glance to really know
that there was quality work in this pickup. You see it in the way
the sheet metal fits together to show off the big fender style that
makes a truck like this so cool. The Candy Apple Red paint has a
nice glow to it, this was part of the initial restoration, and so
it shows some age after about seven years. We like how it really
makes for a driver-ready style that makes it look like a real
pickup. Some people may want to refresh some of the truck's wooden
bed with paint or varnish to be extra glossy - that's because it's
easy to get a showstopper look on such quality work. But from day
one it's really about impressing with great details like the bright
smoothie wheel covers, ultra-desirable five-window cab, real wood
bed rails, and the bulldog-like grille gives these GMCs a genuine
uniqueness from the Chevy counterparts.
Another reason why we like the driver-ready style of this truck is
that you get such a driver-ready interior. Tan is an attractive
color against the exterior red, and they make sure to showcase it
with details like the door tops, horn cap, seatbelts, and seat
frame all in the rich color. And the plush carpeting is also done
in a deep and stylish red. That carpet also is part of a more
comfortable package that includes the custom bench seat, full door
panels, and padded dash. And we love the Budweiser tap handle for
the four-speed. This 1950 GMC even has the best in modern upgrades
with cold-blowing air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD/XM stereo
w/Bluetooth, a USB outlet, and a backup camera. The classic GMC
steering wheel is there for a true vintage truck feeling every time
you hit the road, but even the dash is now subtly upgraded with a
full set of old-style AutoMeter gauges - including a large speedo
and tach.
Under the hood is a 236 cubic-inch inline-six. It's an upgrade in
displacement over what was available in 1950 without losing the
iconic attitude. More importantly, this was rebuilt as part of the
full restoration. So it not only looks good, but it also will
continue to have the robust reputation of a proper GMC. It even has
the right upgrades, like a 12-volt system, a newer alternator, an
electric fan, and the battery mounted in the bed's storage box.
This rides on a classic truck suspension to give you the right
vintage feeling on the road. But to make sure that you truly enjoy
getting out there, this one has been given the right additions.
This includes electric power steering, front disc brakes, and new
tires in 2019.
