Vehicle Description
A car like this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner was first popular for
being one of the most honest muscle cars out there...but this one
is fully lying to you. There have been solid investments in shining
paint, a leather interior, four-wheel disc brakes, and an
extra-strong V8. So this is the hardtop that initially looks like a
true classic, but it's secretly rewarding for everyone who gives it
a second glance.
We love these coupes because they have a blocky and authoritative
style. It's in everything from the big rear fenders to those bright
chrome bumpers that are wide enough to own the road. Matte black
racing stripes on the front, the performance fresh air hood, and
large exhaust tips are all part of this proper muscle car
appearance. And those Road Runner cartoon graphics are iconic. But
there's more going on here. The metallic of the paint has some
extra luster, and it shows off some attractively straight panels.
We have a contract showing $23k worth of paint and body work
completed in 2010. It has also been under long-term care with
little time on the streets. So the investment in quality still
really shows. And the upgraded 15-inch Cragar wheels are part of a
more aggressive stance that tells people this Road Runner is for
both show AND go.
Open the door, and you'll find one of the best interiors you will
ever see on a Road Runner. Where most of these are dark-and-stark
budget classics, this car features a seriously attractive two-tone
blue. And while this has a factory-correct style, you'll feel the
difference when you sit down on the upgraded supple leather. The
carpeting, headliner, door panels, and even the trunk all have the
look of a quality investment. This is all quite vintage, right down
to the working dome light and iconic pistol-grip shifter. But
you'll also pick up on the right well-integrated upgrades like the
AM/FM digital tuner and a full set of upgraded Dakota Digital
gauges.
The engine bay looks awesome with the tidy style, bold block,
finned Mopar valve covers, and the real working Coyote Duster fresh
air grabber. This was the era of the 383 motor, but the secret here
is this is the larger 400 cubic-inch B-block. The fresh air feeds
the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and this mighty motor exhales
with added power from the long tube headers. It also has the right
supporting components, like a fuel pressure regulator w/gauge, an
electronic ignition, and an aluminum radiator. It fires up with a
nice rumble, and it runs with plenty of muscle, so it feels like a
fully built package with a hot cam. And you get to take full
control over it all with the numbers-matching four-speed manual
transmission. Power steering, BF Goodrich T/A (new in 2019) and
upgraded four-wheel power disc brakes make for a terrific total
package.
Complete with build receipts, the horn might still go "Beep! Beep!"
but the rumble this one makes going down the road means this is no
kid's show. Call today!!!
