What Makes This Car Special
Ford Motor Company introduced its Deluxe line in 1938 as an upscale
alternative to bridge the gap between its base model and luxury
Lincoln offerings.
The "Deluxe" name was used intermittently before and after this to
specify an upscale trim, but the De Luxe Ford line was
differentiated as a separate "marque within a marque" with separate
styling and pricing.
The 1946 Ford Deluxe Street Rod we have at Skyway Classics is a
one-of-a-kind car that is both current as a cruiser but nostalgic
if you want an "old time" cruiser too.
Mechanical
To start with our Deluxe has had a frame off restoration top to
bottom and is powered by a small block Chevy V8 engine, with chrome
Chevrolet Bow Tie Logos valve covers, chrome open element air
cleaner, high performance spark plug wires, performance carb and
aluminum intake, tube headers, aftermarket aluminum radiator, power
steering and brakes, chrome alternator, air conditioning, and more
sitting in a clean and detailed engine compartment.
The engine is backed by an automatic transmission with a modified
frame, dual exhaust, and a Heavy Duty rear end.
Interior
The interior has a vivid purple and grey custom cloth interior
featuring a plush full bench seat with an arm rest in between, a
complete custom painted and detailed dash has an assortment of
gauges, chrome and polished controls and switches, factory clock,
tilt wheel and steering column, grey carpet, aftermarket stereo
radio, air conditioning, as well as great door panels, Ford
engraved custom section behind the seats, and headliner with an
above console too.
Exterior
Our 1946 2 Door Coupe has an "All Steel" black exterior with like
new paint, great chrome, bumpers, the iconic 46 Ford grill out
front, dual mirrors and spotlights, great glass and trim, black
body color painted rear side fender skirts, dual side running
boards, and rides on steel wheels with the factory chrome hubcaps
and white sidewall tires.
