Vehicle Description
The 1964 Ford Galaxie was a darling of NHRA Super Stock class and
this one has the style to celebrate it correctly. There's even a
triple-deuce 390 V8 for proper power. But as you look at the full
style and features for this hardtop, it also shows there's far more
of an all-around cruiser nature to this one.
This has the best of an era showcased on the exterior. The inner
headlights are deleted to help cool the motor, plain red steel
wheels save weight, a front tow bar mount, and the lightweight
fiberglass bumpers are painted silver for proper distinction. The
red paint has the right mix of being attractive glossy without
looking too fancy for a quarter-mile king. And this even has the
full livery of a speedy machine, including Tasca Ford (which is
like Yenko to Chevy fans.) And while the usual Galaxie 500s would
have people marveling at the full-length side trim, this one is
more about showcasing the aggressive Thunderbolt-style teardrop
hood.
The full black interior looks good against the full red exterior.
It's a very stock style setup where plenty of patina means plenty
of desirable original trim. This is not stripped out to be a
full-on race car, and so it feels like a comfortable full-size
hardtop. But you also can't help but see that this one was made for
a bit more speed with a radio delete and the addition of the
under-dash auxiliary readouts.
The engine bay has a terrific tidy look. And pieces like the ribbed
valve covers and matching air grabber. At the center is a 390
cubic-inch V8 with a triple-set of dual-barrel carburetors. It's a
mighty V8, and it sings its powerful tune through a glasspack-style
dual exhaust. Everything from the classic Firestone tires to the
rear traction bars have the right old-school impression. While this
enjoys giving you the right vintage power car feeling, this is also
a more considerate total package. For example, you have upgrades
like the aluminum radiator with an electric fan that helps keep the
motor running cooler. And there's also power steering, power
brakes, and a three-speed automatic transmission. So you have the
look of a blacktop burner, but it can also be easy to cruise to
cars & coffee.
A true quarter-mile king look with the right hint of cruiser feel.
