Vehicle Description
At one point in history, the Classic Motor Carriages company was
the largest specialty car company in the world. In the mid 1970's,
the hey days of the 1980's and even until the early 1990's.
However, that all came to an abrupt end when they were found guilty
of defrauding customers out of a lot of money. Nonetheless, the
bread and butter of the business was the Gazelle, the Tiffany and
the Speedster . The Gazelle was a replica of the 1929 Mercedes
Benz. And this particular car utilized a 1976 Chevrolet Chevette
chassis. This car has had the same owner since new showing purchase
paperwork and the mileage of 1,700 on the odometer is accurate. Not
sure how that works when the car was a chevette with mileage.
Anyway, the car is in very good condition. Starts, runs and drives
very nicely. The top is in nice condition with side curtains. This
Gazelle also comes with all of its original sales brochures and
owners manuals. These are funky little cars. All the gauges seem to
operate as they should as does the radio. The front seats have some
cracking in spots but the dash and everything else is in pretty
good shape. The tires are old....they hold air but the side walls
are pretty cracked. They could be the originals. This Gazelle does
not appear to leak or smoke and is ready to go and be enjoyed.
