Vehicle Description
This 1996 Ford Bronco XLT is a lifted 4x4 with a powerful
fuel-injected V8, and it's also a comfortable cruiser with an
overdrive transmission and a loaded A/C interior. So when you want
the best of it all, dig into all the details on this one.
We know Ford is rolling out a new Bronco, and this well-respected
example from the last year of the previous generation really starts
to get attention. This 4x4 retains the factory color combo with
plenty of gloss that you'd never tell it's almost old enough for
vintage plates. But what is absolutely classic is the color combo.
The Dark Toreador Red and Silver Frost have the kind of vintage
appeal that reminds us of the earlier Broncos. And because the XLT
is the top trim, the roof is nicely coordinated to the vehicle
(today it almost looks like they mixed maroon and silver to get the
color.) And yes, this Bronco continues the great tradition of being
able to remove the rear roof section for that cool semi-convertible
appearance. Plus, this has added style where the lifted suspension
just seems to draw even more attention to the 17-inch polished
wheels. But there's plenty of substance within the style. After
all, the taller suspension also gives this 4x4 better ground
clearance. And there are tow mirrors and trailer hitch. So you have
the ability to go everywhere and take the toys along with you.
The XLT trim also means you get a comfortable and loaded interior
with just about every feature in the book. It includes power
windows, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control, and modern
R134a air conditioning (it could likely use a recharge to be
ideally ice cold again.) And the stereo has been upgraded to an
AM/FM unit with USB and Bluetooth for the best in modern driving
music. A more modern classic also means modern safety features like
a driver's airbag and anti-lock brakes. The odometer does reflect
the full actual mileage, but the condition of the leather seats
really shows how this has been treated with care over the years.
The front bucket seats are long-haul comfortable with fold-down
armrests and electric adjustable lumbar support. The wide center
console offers plenty of storage as well as a handy place to put
your coffee, and the dash is one of the more car-like features of
this big SUV. You'll even spot a few handy upgrades, like the
auxiliary gauge trio and an engine management/tuner computer
cleanly mounted below the dash. There's adult-sized legroom room in
the back seats, and there's a large cargo area and a fold-down
tailgate. So you're probably already imagining this for everything
from the campsite to the boat ramp.
Under the hood is a blue oval legend: the 5.8L/351 cubic-inch V8.
It's made for the modern era with fuel injection, and that means
it's responsive on the street and trail. The push-button 4x4 system
makes it easy to hit the trail, and the Procomp lifted suspension
and Nitto Ridge Grappler tires make this a better off-roader. But
you can tell from the overall style, that this one is too clean to
have spent its whole life mud-slinging. And in fact, it knows how
to be an easy cruiser. That's why there's power steering, power
brakes, front discs, and a four-speed automatic transmission with
highway-friendly overdrive.
This is a well-priced and highly-optioned Bronco. So if you like to
look distinctive while doing it all, don't let this deal slip away.
