Vehicle Description
1972 Ferrari Daytona Spider For Sale - Only 26,600 Miles, Cavallino
Classic Preservation Cup Winner LMC is very proud to offer for sale
this 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spider Despite the factory not originally
planning for an open-top version, between Scaglietti and
Pininfarina, designs were created, and a prototype was approved.
Launched at the 1969 Frankfurt Auto Show, the 365 GTS/4 Daytona
Spider was produced for both the European and American markets,
meeting an inundation of requests for an open-top version. Ferrari
only built 121 Daytona Spiders, which represents just a fraction of
the 1,406 total examples built during Daytona production. Although
a number were converted to spiders later in their life, genuine
Daytona Spiders command a substantial premium over coupes and are
undoubtedly the most desirable road going Daytonas built. 96
examples were slated for the U.S. market, with the remainder of the
production run earmarked for Europe. It goes without saying that
these cars are highly sought after by collectors, not only for
their rarity but also for the added thrill of open-air V-12
motoring. This 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Spider was delivered new to
William F. Harrah's U.S. West Coast Ferrari distributorship Modern
Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada who re-sold it to Hollywood Sports
Cars in Hollywood, California. This example was one of only a
handful produced in stunning Bianco Polo with a Nero interior.
Additionally, it was factory fitted with such desirable options as
air conditioning and Borrani wire wheels. The original owner was a
resident of Coconut Grove, Florida would own it for a couple years
before trading it to its second owner who would cherish it for 40
years. Under his ownership, this example was kept in exceptional
original condition having never been restored and remaining as left
from the factory with only 26,600 miles from new. In 2017, it was
judged at Cavallino by some of the greatest Ferrari experts and won
the coveted Cavallino Preservation Cup for its incredible
originality. Daytona Spiders that were built by the factory are
some of the most desirable drop-top Ferraris ever built. When new,
the Daytona Berlinetta was an extraordinary automobile. Not only
was it the fastest production car ever built, but it also combined
incredible Italian design and style with its fantastic performance.
The example offered here for sale is a truly exceptional original
example with single ownership for over 40 years, Cavallino
Preservation Cup Award, Numbers Matching Drivetrain, Massini
report, Owner's Manuals, Original Warranty Book, Tools, Jack and
more. It checks all the right boxes and requires only a new owner.
