Vehicle Description
10,061 original miles. Custom 19-inch forged wheels and Michelin
tires, upgraded exhaust. New NOS dashboard and center console.
Beautifully maintained, as new throughout. Incredible early Viper
that's as brutal and elemental as you remember. With the recent
demise of the Viper, it's unlikely that we'll ever see anything
like it again. Ostensibly inspired by the Cobra, it was performance
distilled down to its purest form. No frills, no luxury, just a big
honkin' engine and enough bodywork for two passengers. Outrageously
styled yet bulletproof reliable, it quickly became the benchmark by
which almost everything else was measured. And dressed in black,
this one is pure menace, an apex predator that eliminates even the
stripes that were found on so many of its siblings. With just
10,000 original miles, it's pretty much as-new throughout, with
paint that's surprisingly good considering Chrysler's mediocre
quality of the period. The bodywork is thermoplastic, so there's no
worries about rust or parking lot dings, and panel fit is quite
good-even that giant clamshell hood snugs down tightly. The only
notable deviation from stock is that the inserts on the rocker
panels have been painted gloss black to match the bodywork (it was
originally satin black). But beyond that, what else can you do to a
Viper to improve its looks? This thing is spectacular from any
angle! The interior is wrapped in gray leather, which was the only
choice in 1994. Somewhat more luxurious than its spiritual ancestor
but no less elemental, there are supportive bucket seats, a
leather-wrapped wheel, and a full array of white-faced gauges. On
the other hand, there are no windows and no roof, just a portable
tonneau for inclement weather. A/C was included and it works just
fine, and there's also a decent AM/FM/cassette stereo, but who's
going to use it in a car with side pipes? Early Vipers were
notorious for cracking dashboards and consoles, and this one was no
exception-so they somehow found an NOS dash and console which look
like new (obviously). There's also a bit of a trunk carrying a
space-saver spare that's strapped down better than the passengers
inside and has never been used. There is no truth to the rumor that
the V10 in the Viper is related to the V10 truck motor also found
in Dodge Rams. The Viper's all-aluminum V10 was engineered by
Lamborghini and grunted out 400 horsepower and a towering 462
lb-ft. of torque-staggering numbers for 1994 and rivaled only by
the mighty ZR-1 Corvette. In practice, the Viper's brutal torque
hits like a sledgehammer and turns those massive rear tires to
expensive smoke without much effort. The red intake manifold is a
work of art, fed by twin throttle bodies and offering instantaneous
throttle response that you have to experience to understand.
Despite the massive number of modifications available in the
aftermarket, this one is 100% stock aside from a custom exhaust
system that gives it a more appropriate soundtrack (the stock
Vipers were accused of sounding like delivery trucks). It spins a
bulletproof 6-speed manual gearbox that rips through the gears
while ignoring the torque, and with a 3.07 gearset out back, this
thing feels like it could accelerate forever. The chassis is
fabricated like a race car, complete with tubular A-arms and
coil-over shocks, and there's a giant disc brake at each corner.
It's nicely maintained and extremely clean, and with just enough
miles on the clock to keep it healthy. Built at a cost of nearly
$10,000, those custom 3-piece forged alloy wheels measure 19x10 up
front and 19x13 in back and carry 295/30/19 and 345/30/19 Michelin
Pilot Sport radials, respectively (the original wheels and tires
are also available, please contact us for details).Documentation
includes the original owner's manual.Nobody will ever build a car
like the Viper again, and now that it's out of production we're
seeing some significant gains in the market as buyers seek the
unfiltered driving experience. Nothing feels like a Viper
accelerating through the gears and without any electronic aids it
remains a driver's car that requires skill to master. With low
mileage, expert maintenance, and those gorgeous wheels, this is a
special Viper that's ready to enjoy right away. Call now!Harwood
