Vehicle Description
2006 Hummer H1 Alpha
Desert Storm brought us into the battlefield with the nearly live
action TV coverage that was available on cable news. During said
coverage, the general public and in particular car aficionados took
notice of these go everywhere vehicles our troops were using known
as the Humvee. Their fascination led to a trend where AM General
corporation which supplied the M998 Humvee to the military got the
brainchild idea to make these trucks available to the public, and
this became the Hummer line produced in their Mishawaka, Indiana
facility.
For consignment, a Hummer H1 civilian go anywhere 4 door with a
large rear cargo bed, wide stance, able to go into 3 feet of water,
and a hardtop version of the H1 Hummer from 2006. Powered by a
healthy Duramax 300hp turbo diesel and an Allison transmission lets
go and crush something. All in low mileage (10,167 original
Miles).
Exterior
With its stamped hardened aluminum body, and composite hood it's
not as heavy as it looks but either way it will still go through
anything you can throw at it. With its squarish design, front
grille guard, nearly vertical split glass heated front windshield
and 4 doors with tinted glass. On the back nearly a full on
enclosed bed is making this vehicle long and mean and able to carry
virtually anything. A trailer towing package is on, and run flat
and beadlock tires. An off road adventure pack is installed,
(original dealer cost @ 5,726 dollars), it has an electric winch
front and rear electric lock axles and 17 inch aluminum wheels.
This truck is all bathed in Civilian Gloss Black, and it looks
shiny and tuff. Grab the groover. I'll meet you on the mountain
top.
Interior
In contrast to the tuff looking exterior, nice molded doors covered
in black leather are utilitarian but luxurious. Black leather that
has aged very nicely is on the front bucket seats and 2 rear single
seats. The buckets have Alpha embroidery in them just to remind you
of this truck's prowess, (think ALPHA MALE!). A massive center
console is between the front buckets, and it greets a carpeted
higher wide center panel between the rear single buckets at each
door. The back of this console had temp controls, power window
controls, and cup holders for the rear passenger conveniences. In
front resembling a big rig interior the console wraps around the
driver with a myriad of buttons and toggles and dual shift levers.
Continuing with the truck look, a brushed aluminum dash front is
just below a black padded dash top, and has industrial looking
gauges, more climate controls, and an AM/FM/ 6 Disc CD Monsoon
stereo system. Nice gray carpeting covers all the floors including
the entire rear cargo surround. Above is a really cool lighter gray
suede triangular stitched headliner which has extra sound deadening
underneath.
Drivetrain
A 6.6 Liter 8-cylinder Duramax turbo diesel is under the composite
hood. It is fed diesel fuel via EFI, and an Allison 5000 5-speed
automatic transmission is on back. The electric locking axles weigh
in at a 2.56 ratio.
Undercarriage
All rust free and steel coverings hiding all the nooks and crannies
so when you go over rocks all is protected. Independent coil spring
suspension on all 4 corners along with power disc braking all
around.
Drive-Ability
Climbing inside this large and in charge ALPHA truck was great. I
felt like I was behind the wheel of an 18-wheel tractor trailer,
with the big center console, and brushed aluminum accenting. It
performed well and handled great. Low road noise with all the extra
sound deadening, and plenty of driver and passenger conveniences.
All functions were working like new.
Low, Low Miles, big HD aluminum and winched 4x4, this go anywhere
anytime all-weather truck is just the ticket for the adventurous
sort. Look at it this way, when you get this beast, nothing can
stop you now!
