Vehicle Description
Bauman Chevrolet of Pittsburgh, PA, ordered this special Z/28
Camaro in the summer of 1969. The Z/28 was ordered in a
special-order color of GMC fleet light blue that is commonly
referred to as Carolina Blue. Upon delivery, this Z/28 was placed
in the showroom and was the focus of a High-Performance Summer Sale
at Bauman Chevy. In July 1969 it was purchased new and since then
has only accumulated three documented owners and 19,719 documented
miles. The Z/28 has documentation that includes, but is not limited
to, the original owner affidavit, Protect-O-Plate, 1978 Pink Slip
transfer of ownership, 1978 title, insurance records, inspection
records and NCRS dealer delivery. In 2021 a professional concours
restoration was completed by Arone Restorations on this special
Camaro. The disassembly was completely documented and the
restoration to the original configuration spared no expense. Every
piece of sheet metal is original GM with the wheelhouses, quarters,
floors and trunk floor being original to the car. The interior is
100-percent original GM, including the headliner and carpet. This
car features a matching-numbers engine and rear axle assembly.
Every component, engine compartment, glass and all wheels are all
original and/or date-coded to the car. Camaro options include D55
center console, D80 spoilers, G80 posi-traction, J52 power-assist
front disc brakes, M21 4-speed manual close-ratio transmission, N34
sports-styled steering wheel, U17 special instruments, U63 AM
push-button radio, Z/28 special performance package, 1001 special
order paint - special order non-Camaro color. RPO 1001 is a Camaro
option for special paint. Instructions from the Build Sheet include
stripe delete, special stripe color and non-Camaro color. This is
an extremely limited option that doesn't even make it on to most
Camaro Regular Production Order (RPO) Code lists. Believed to be
one of only two Carolina Blue 1969 Z/28s in existence. This Camaro
scored a 97-percent Concours Gold through Legends judging at the
2021 Camaro Nationals and was also the first Camaro to achieve a
perfect score (1,000/1,000) at the Muscle Car and Corvette
Nationals.
