Documented high-end build. LS1 V8, 5-speed, full Global West
suspension with Panhard, 4-wheel disc, ice cold A/C. Stunning paint
and bodywork, beautiful stock-style interior with upgraded gauges.
707 miles on the build. Ready to rock! We'll let you know up front
that we love this car. Everything about it is just the way we'd do
it if we were building one for ourselves. From the sizzling
Millennium Yellow paint to the potent LS1 V8 to the grippy
suspension, it's right in every way that matters. There's extensive
documentation showing a plain Jane 6-cylinder 2-door being stripped
bare and rebuilt from there. No rust issues and since it was a
6-cylinder, it wasn't abused or twisted. The results are simply
stunning, with laser-straight bodywork, excellent panel fit, even
gaps, and a finish that's a mile deep. The color is Millennium
yellow from a 2000 Corvette, and that seems fitting since there's a
lot of Corvette DNA built into this Bel Air. All the original trim
remains intact, so it doesn't look like some kind of half-finished
'80s leftover, and it was all refinished to show standards. That
means beautiful chrome bumpers, a slash of polished stainless along
the flanks, and those awesome taillights. The anodized grille is in
beautiful shape and all the emblems and lenses were replaced with
quality reproductions. I mean, someone was really sweating the
details on this one.The interior sticks to the factor formula as
well, including bench seats, an original steering wheel, and
original dash and switchgear. Sure, that charcoal upholstery is a
little more modern than 1962, but the patterns are correct and it
works extremely well with the yellow paint. The original dash was
retained, although the original warning lights were replaced with
Auto Meter gauges monitoring oil pressure, water temperature, and
fuel level. There's also a tach under the dash that looks suitably
vintage. Vintage Air supplied the A/C system that stays mostly out
of sight under the dash and is managed by the original controls.
Other goodies include a tilt steering column, a digital AM/FM/iPod
stereo, and that cool Hurst shifter for the 5-speed manual
transmission. The back seat is big enough for real adults, and the
trunk will easily carry all your gear on a cross-country cruise. But
the real reason we love this car is under the skin, where it has
been extensively upgraded. In front there's a Corvette LS1 V8,
whose legendary performance and durability make it a preferred
choice in today's builds. It's mostly stock, so it runs
superbly-easy starts, perfect idle, and a wide powerband that never
feels like it's working very hard. A few chrome dress-up parts work
well with the Corvette-branded coil covers and a giant aluminum
radiator with electric fan keeps it cool under any circumstances.
Underneath there's a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission spinning a
custom-built Ford 9-inch rear end with 4.11 gears on a Posi limited
slip. The transmission's deep overdrive makes it a superlative
highway cruiser but the 4.11 gears ensure that it's nasty fast on
the street. Hooking it up is a full Global West suspension,
including custom tubular control arms, rack-and-pinion steering,
fat sway bars, and a Panhard rod setup to locate the rear axle.
This doesn't feel like a full-sized luxury car anymore! There's
also a big disc brake at each corner because this car gathers speed
far extremely well, as well as a great-sounding custom dual exhaust
system that was coated black to help it blend in. Staggered Coys
wheels measure 17x8 up front and 18x10 in back and carry 245/45/17
and 275/40/18 performance radials, respectively. Documentation is
extensive, with a thick binder full of restoration photos,
receipts, and manuals. The original owner's manual is also
included. This car is just incredible from any angle. It has all the
features you want, it is bulletproof reliable, it drives like a new
Camaro, and it's seriously quick. A no-compromises resto-mod that
gets the balance exactly right. Call today!Harwood Motors always
