This is an incredibly rare find: the 1926 Packard 243
Seven-Passenger Touring that has been cared for by two owners since
1958!! This Packard drives as only a low mileage example can and it
looks stunning in its Roaring 20's paint combination that is said
to be original to this Packard. We love the rear mounted spare,
accentuating the long and sleek silhouette. We have this priced to
sell quickly! This 243 was repainted back in 1958 in its original
striking livery of Burnt Orange and Cream on the body, black
fenders and teal wheels. It is incredibly well accessorized with a
pair of Trippe Safety Lights mounted in the front, Bausch-Lomb
headlight lenses, the Packard script on the front grill and the
owners initials accessory plaque also on the front. The Packard
scripted wind wings and an original spotlight are all mounted on
the windshield. The paint is from 1958 and still looks striking
today, but it is older and of driver quality with many smaller
areas of rub through and orange peel. The interior was completely
redone in about 2003 with soft and supple black leather and
beautiful Mercedes-Benz carpeting. The black canvas convertible top
was also replaced and is also as new. To step inside this 243 you
will use the rare Packard scripted step plates. We love the
beautiful solid wood steering wheel that is a pleasure to hold.
There are no side curtains with this Packard. Inside mounted on the
dashboard is an accessory that we've never seen before: a Packard
cigarette dispenser, ashtray and cigar lighter. With 46,000 miles
accumulated since new, this 243 is an absolute joy to drive. The
venerable 358 CID straight eight engine produces 85 hp. Being
rebuilt in 1981 with few miles added since, it has excellent power
and shifts very easily through the gears. The three-speed
transmission is very highly geared and this Packard will reach 80
mph. These 143 inch wheelbase Packards are a delight to drive. They
are very quick and have the ability to spin the rear tires! History
of this Packard 243 Touring- Gloria B. Coulom of Boxborough, Mass.
acquired this Packard in 1958. The Packard was very well
accessorized and was a very low mile and all original example. She
and her husband then commenced a cosmetic restoration including
repainting it in its original livery of Burnt Orange and Cream on
the body, black fenders and teal wheels. During the roaring 20's
and through the start of the depression, these vibrant and exciting
color combinations were very popular for the expensive cars such as
Packard and Cadillac. The Coulom's enjoyed the Packard with their
two daughters taking it on many trips and winning many awards. The
Coulom's continued to enjoy the Packard for several decades before
setting out on an engine rebuild in 1981. Mrs. Coulom's husband
then passed shortly after the engine rebuild. The Packard then was
largely stored with only occasional use for the following two
decades. By 2002, Mrs. Coulom was ready to pass the 243 onto
another caretaker. She was referred to the Ft. Lauderdale Antique
Car Museum in Florida where the enthusiasm of its owner, Arthur
Stone, was well known. The Museum boasted a large collection of
Packards. Mr. Stone acquired the 243 in 2002 and added it to his
collection. Mr. Stone replaced the original interior with a
beautiful black leather as well as a new black canvas convertible
top. This 243 comes complete with letters from the previous owners
and a nice collection of photos and other documents. For more
