2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt
Bullitt is a 1968 American action thriller film directed by Peter
Yates and produced by Philip D'Antoni. The picture stars Steve
McQueen, Robert Vaughn, and Jacqueline Bisset. The screenplay by
Alan R. Trustman and Harry Kleiner was based on the 1963 novel Mute
Witness. In the movie there is a nearly 11 minute chase scene in
which McQueen rumbles through various streets of San Francisco in a
green 1968 Mustang Fastback, and the rest is history.
For consignment, some heavy ammunition in the form of a 2008
Mustang Bullitt. This hot shot car dyno tested at 509hp and 471tq.
Plenty of extra add ons for the exterior, interior and engine. Dark
Highland Green paint, and 71K original miles. Bang!
Exterior
From its Mustang menacing front grille with a Dark Highland Green
neoprene bumper and black MMD chin spoiler, covered headlights, and
now featuring a Cervini ram air hood with Quick Latch QL-50-LP hood
pins, it is ready to fire up. SHR provides the window louvers and
lower grille inserts and on the back is a blackout rear deck panel.
Throwing back to the design of yore a hockey stick cove works its
way from the front quarter through the door panel to the rear
quarter. Dual exhaust tips peek out from under the rear green
neoprene bumper on either corner, and within that blackout panel on
back are Raxiom Gen 5 tail lights. Deep dish Bullitt black wheels
are wrapped by Nitto extreme NT55R 305/40-R18 rear tires and NT 555
G2 255/45-R18 front tires. Lest I forget a LED-Glow underbody light
kit adds some extra eye candy when the sun sets. Ready!
Interior
Opening the doors we pull the trigger on black panels doors with a
molded armrest in a field of textured vinyl. A couple of speakers
for each door are inset and put out killer sound. Inside sculpted
high back bucket seats with black leather coverings and tuck and
roll inserts. A Barton shifter resides within the center console
which now has satin textured aluminum cup holder surrounds and
satin handle for the handbrake lever. In back are 2 plus 2 buckets
separated by the center hump which is covered in black leather.
Brushed swirl pattern aluminum also covers the dash front which
sports 2 large round gauges, again throwing back to the early
Mustangs only these are much larger and are backlit and have some
green LED readouts for mileage and trip odometer. In the mid dash
is a Shaker 500 stereo which is an AM/FM/CD-6 Disc player. Clean
black carpeting floods the floors and above is a nice tight black
headliner. Aim!
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 4.6 liter V8 3 valve per cylinder mill. It has
an Edelbrock supercharger kit and features Detroit rocker cams. 509
dyno proven horses is what this engine rates. It has EFI and a
Exedy lightweight flywheel and racing clutch with SR stainless
steel clutch line now on. The transmission is a Tremec 3650 5-speed
manual that throws power rearward to a Ford 8.8 inch 3.73 trac-loc
rear axle. American racing headers and a Ford Racing KR cat back
exhaust is for the exhale. Also, on is a Moroso Driveshaft loop
with a DSS aluminum driveshaft, Ford performance cooling fan and
160 degree thermostat. Fire!
Undercarriage
Straight rust-free steel underneath with braided stainless brake
lines and clutch line, Steeda lower control arms with Koni STR T
shocks and struts, working with Ford Racing P springs. Not even a
hint of road dirt seen as is power disc braking on all 4
corners.
Drive-Ability
This car "fires" right up and runs like a champ on the test track.
All functions were working fab, and it is not only an eye catcher
but also a neck snapper with those 509 horses. One small frown was
a TPMS warning light for the right front wheel, but a new tire
pressure sensor is included with the purchase.
This car was featured in the 2018 edition of "Stang" magazine, was
on a 2014 American Muscle Car Calendar and various displays and
