For Sale: 1970 Pontiac GTO (The Judge) in Elkhart, Indiana

Vehicle Description

One of Precious Metal Classic Car Sales latest offerings comes from the Pontiac line and is this beloved 1970 GTO Judge! So what about the Judge? It’s a direct result of what evolves when a renegade car division that's ran by busted-knuckle gearheads defies corporate culture, 'borrows' Ferrari's most coveted name and stages an octane-fueled war against crosstown rivals. It offered buyers the very real opportunity to walk in to a Pontiac showroom and with checkbook in hand, purchase a one-way ticket to hot style and big performance. Today, classics like this documented numbers matching Ram Air III Judge Coupe, wrapping correct aesthetics around a numbers-matching drivetrain, are perfect investments for enthusiasts who want a storied classic that's fun to drive and show. If you missed out 51 years ago, it's your well-deserved chance to give us a call, sign a few papers, and relive the glory of the muscle car era!

This example is a numbers-matching icon that, in addition to being a fully documented car, has “All the Right Stuff” to make it the first or next car in your collection. If you're a serious Pontiac fan who's looking for a clean, correctly sorted driver and showpiece, you could be looking at your next classic!

BODY AND TRIM

Polished and ready to roll, this authentic Ram Air III GTO Judge was, according to its previous owner, completely rust-free at the time of its detailed restoration. Naturally, that clean fuselage has been correctly coated in awesome Polar White 2-stage and dressed in a full array of Judge war paint. At the front of that pigment, a prominent grill centers a legendary “G T O” script between clean parking lamps, stainless-trimmed headlights and a tasteful chin spoiler. Behind that grille, lies the appropriately labeled Ram Air Hood.

Beneath that greenhouse, a correct mirror reflects traditional door handles, stainless wheel lips and attractive rocker guards. And at the back of the car, a polished bumper hangs clean taillights between a large wing and polished, quad-outlet exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Pop the hood on this awesome GTO and you'll find an original 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that's branded with a 9799914 casting number, a Ram Air III exclusive “WS” engine stamp and a matching partial VIN. At the top of the storied mill, a hand-operated Ram Air system funnels wind into a correct 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor that's bolted beneath a traditional satin black air cleaner. At the back of that carburetor, a correct points distributor sends fire though fresh wires that snake around fully restored, cast iron exhaust manifolds. In front of those wires, a traditional heavy duty radiator holds a correct fan shroud between reproduction GM hoses, familiar tower clamps and a standard issue seven-blade fan. And below those hoses, a heavy duty oil pump makes sure explosive combustion is met with plenty of heat-quelling lubrication. The big Pontiac block displays a slick coat of Turquoise paint from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth coat of GM satin black paint. And niceties such as a the correct carburetor spring, mirror-like valve covers, a Delco Moraine brake booster, and even a reproduction Delco Energizer battery round out this engine.

DRIVETRAIN AND SUSPENSION

Drive this GTO up on a lift and you'll see the original floor pans that ride above a clean frame being held together with newer hardware while being aligned with the correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. In the middle of the chassis a correct Muncie M20 4-speed sends power to the correctly marked 10 bolt rear end. The car's original firm ride double A-arm front and four link rear suspension has been completely restored to factory specifications and features correct variable ratio power steering, newer shocks and correct GTO sway bars. A true dual exhaust system lines up with Magnaflow replacement mufflers to create one of the toughest exhaust notes in the classic car hobby. At the corners of the car, correctly stamped black and silver 14 inch Pontiac Rally II wheels spinning newer style bias ply tires around the red-lettered “PMD” center caps.

INTERIOR

Take a look inside this A-Body's airy cockpit and you'll find a correct GM code 258 Black vinyl interior which conveys a level of luxury and detail that's traditionally absent from 70s muscle machines. At the front of the car, a straight and crack-free black dash wears awesome looking engine turned trim below bright wood applique and original gauges. At the bottom of that dash, you'll find a knob to actuate the car's Ram Air system; in the middle of that dash, you'll find a correct Delco radio; and on the passenger's side of that dash, you'll find a correct “The Judge” emblem which features a signature Orbit Orange outline. At the center of the car, a Hurst shifter rides between the original stainless-trimmed Black bucket seats. At the sides of those seats you'll find good looking Black door panels, which are set off by correct stainless trim and correct red-inlayed “GTO” emblems, featuring the correct hardware for both their latches and cranks. Below that hardware, the carpet runs from under the car's chrome trimmed foot pedals to its plush rear bench. In front of the driver, a correct Formula steering wheel features correct satin-finished spokes. And behind the passenger are sits a fully restored trunk featuring a full-size spare tire.
