This cleverly designed and well-engineered 1946 Ford Custom Pickup
has only 2000 miles on the build, and it's now available from the
MAXmotive Pittsburgh Showroom. Owner-built on a Z'd '46 Ford frame,
it features a steel cab and custom Mac Products bed with fiberglass
fenders for a '40 Ford look. Deep black paint with hand-applied
multi-colored flames by Mark Boyer and the custom chrome reverse
wheels give the truck a personality all its own. The rear wheels
are an ultra-wide 11 inches. In front, the popular Mustang II power
rack & pinion steering provides straight and true handling. In the
rear, an 8 Chrysler axle was narrowed for the perfect stance, then
fitted with an Auburn Gear Sure-Grip and 3.50 gears to get you off
the line. A cool touch is the Ed Lynch sprint car quick change rear
end cover, easily visible from the back of the truck. For power, a
Chevrolet Performance 383ci stroker fits right in. Finned aluminum
Corvette valve covers lend a premium look, while an Edelbrock carb
on a polished aluminum open-air intake helps make serious power.
Also contributing are a Melling Class II Performance Cam, 9.75:1
Teflon-coated pistons, and a Melling Performance Double Roller
Timing Set. More great fab work is shown in the exhaust department.
Custom fenderwell headers scavenge the spent gasses either through
the mufflers or you can uncork the exhaust and hear the stroker
motor at full song. Driving is a pleasure with a reliable shift kit
equipped Turbo 350 automatic. Kiski Valley Upholstery stitched up a
stylish and comfortable custom interior with black and white bucket
seats. The interior also features power windows and an Autogage
tach and gauges plus a VDO speedometer. The doors open
electrically, and there are provisions to open them manually. Big
and little tires contribute to the all-important stance.
P195/R7015s in front and meaty 255/R7015s in back. Whether under
the spotlights at a show or out on the street, this lovingly built
1946 Ford Custom Pickup will shine brightly. See detailed photos at
