The culmination of a joint effort by "Bunkie" Knudson and Larry Shinoda. This unique car was unlike the typical 1969 Ford Sport Roof Mustang. Significant changes were made as it was built to race. Add a roll cage, give it a race tune up, and you were ready to hit the track. Two of the most notable external changes were the elimination of the rear quarter panel side scoops and the matte black center panel on the hood to decrease glare. The smooth quarter panels along with front chin spoiler and rear deck spoiler added to the car's aerodynamics. Larger front wheel wells with a rolled inner fender lip was another difference from stock Mustangs. It received 428 front spindles and shock towers reinforced when installed at the factory. A fender mounted rev limiter putting the engine's limit at 6,150 rpm. The rear of the car received a further suspension modification with staggered shocks, one in front of the rear end the other behind. All these changes made The Boss 302 car formidable on the race track and for those using them on the street a performance ride not seen from a factory Mustang.
