This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS has its original numbers matching
396/375 horsepower L78 Turbo Jet big block engine. It is one of
only 600 L78 Camaros built that year, and has been treated to a
comprehensive restoration to original factory specifications. Open
the hood to find the dual snorkel air cleaner, pristine exhaust
manifolds, and even the original emissions equipment including the
air pump. The L78 is actually 402 cubic inches and generates an
impressive 415 lb/ft of torque. It's teamed up with a Muncie M20
4-speed and the venerable 12-bolt Posi with a great choice for
gears -- the versatile 3.55. The Hurst shifter is rock solid and
quick. Then, as if it were spec'd out by enthusiasts, it's clothed
in Cranberry Red paint with a beautiful black interior. The box for
the Z27 Super Sport option was dutifully checked. With it comes
power front disc brakes, dual exhaust, and SS badging. And it was
the only way to get the L78 big block in a Camaro that year. Yet
another highlight is the Rally Sport Package, offering one of the
most beautiful front fascias in muscle car history. The large
center grille uses Endura material for protection. The RS package
has its own unique round parking lights next to the headlights, and
the super-stylish split bumper. Other details include hideaway
wipers with black arms and bright accents around the taillights.
Front and rear spoilers are not only functional, they really set
off the styling from any angle. The dash was all-new for 1970. This
one sports a prominent tach, plus gauges for fuel, amps, and temp,
with an analog clock. Deluxe seat belts and a center console
complete a nicely equipped interior. Remember the sensation it
caused when Chevrolet released this radical redesign of the Camaro?
This just-right restoration presents the car as the cherished
classic that it is. A Cranberry Red 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Rally
