Vehicle Description
A dark as midnight 2001 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is a true dream
truck. After all, they built these right with supercharged power
and a suspension ready to handle it. So when one of these instant
classics has been built to be a 420+ speed machine, you know it's
time to pay attention.
The single cab with stepside bed makes this the sports car of the
truck world. It even has special sleek features, like clear
headlights, upgraded tail lights, billet-style dual grilles, and
color-matched sport bumpers. And those polished 18-inch SVT alloys
on the lowered suspension really give this an aggressive stance.
The black paint shows the right signs of being the factory
application. Show truck people will likely want to update a few
places like the hood. But the rest of us can appreciate the largely
clean and complete appearance with a good gloss to show off the
stepside curves. While we imagine you want this one for mostly
hauling asphalt, there is a full bed liner, bed toolbox, and a
proper trailer hitch on the rear w/electric plug. So real truck
duty is on the menu, too.
The interior got a big upgrade over the standard F-150, starting
with the special seats. These are individual bucket-style with cool
black leather inserts and SVT (Special Vehicle Team) logos embossed
in the back. Yours even power adjusts to the ideal driving
position. And whenever you need to carry a third person, the center
armrest folds up for the handy jump seat. The full package looks
well-kept for its age and mileage. This is loaded with all the best
features, like air conditioning, power windows, power locks, cruise
control, tilt steering column, dual airbags, an AM/FM/cassette
stereo with CD changer, and the desirable sliding rear window. The
white-faced sport gauge package has a speedometer that reads to 140
mph, and the additional readouts on the A-pillar and steering
column tell you there was a larger investment in performance.
Under the hood is the fuel-injected 5.4-liter V8. And you'll notice
this has something on top: an Eaton supercharger. This is what made
the Lightnings so lightning-quick. Plus, we're told this one is
special with a fully built package that includes upgraded pulleys,
a Bullet Stage 2 camshaft, Crane springs, and an LFP intercooler.
And there are upgraded long tube headers that add more power while
also giving this a terrific rumble from the dual exhaust. While
most of the specs are from previous owners, the proof of the work
is in the dyno sheet of 424 horsepower, which is 12 percent more
than stock! Ford's SVT supported the Lightning correctly with
features like a heavy-duty four-speed automatic transmission
w/overdrive. And this now is said to be rebuilt for added power and
a shift kit. Plus, there's an aluminum driveshaft, four-wheel disc
brakes w/ABS, and a limited-slip rear end.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, dyno sheet, and
maintenance records. This is the powerful pickup that has been
given the right investments to even pull ahead of its renowned
siblings. So if you want a Lightning with extra thunder, call
today!
