Please visit www.Survivor-Cars.com for additional photos,
information, and a video.. Check out this one-of-a-kind 1978 Dodge
Charger SE! 1978 was the last year for the B-Body Mopars, there
were only 2,735 Chargers produced. That makes this Mopar muscle car
a rare treat! On top of that, this Charger has had a no-expense
spared performance build that includes a built 440 that is sure to
get your heart pumping.
The engine is built with Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, an
Edelbrock Torker intake, Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, billet
distributor, and full-length headers flowing through true dual
exhaust exiting through SuperTrapp baffled tips. The exhaust also
has an electric cutout if you really want to let this baby rumble!
The engine numbers are 6T 440 E, which comes back to a 1976 440
CID. An additional electric fan is controlled by a switch and helps
keep the big block cool. The engine is ready to show with braided
heater hoses, chrome radiator hoses, chrome valve covers, chrome
brackets, chrome vacuum canister and lots of mirrored pieces on the
cowl, inner fenders and radiator support. Pair that with custom
pinstriping under the hood and you are sure to draw a crowd every
time you raise the hood.
Underneath this car you will find even more high-end parts like a
Holley fuel pump, polished sway bar, ladder bars, and adjustable
coilover shocks in the rear. Power disc brakes in the front and
power steering make this car pretty easy to handle, even as a built
muscle car. The exterior is painted a tough Gun Metal Gray with red
pinstriping and gray half vinyl roof. Pair that with alloy wheels
and BF Goodrich radial tires and people are going to wonder what is
lurking under that long hood.
Slide inside, and you will be impressed with how clean the gray
cloth interior is. A brand-new headliner surrounds a custom
overhead console with switches controlling the lights in the added
AutoMeter gauges, and power to the power seat. A chrome steering
wheel has been added along with a custom center console that houses
the modern AM/FM/CD player and a B&M ratchet shifter. Apart
from the console and the extra gauges, the interior is left pretty
much the way it left the factory in 1978. Comfortable bucket seats
with a flip down armrest makes this car a pleasure for longer
drives. Sound deadener has been added as well so the ride inside
isn't overwhelmingly loud, even with the cutouts open.
The trunk is also show ready with a custom mirrored trunk lid
insert with the Mopar M and 440 logo. Savvy eyes will spot the
Sniper nitrous tank that has been painted to match the car. It is
not hooked up but is there if someone wants to give this Charger
even more pep in its step! Look through the photos and watch the
video and you are sure to be impressed with the quality of build on
this cool 1978 Charger SE big body muscle car!
