Vehicle Description
This truck gets the job done. Big, bold, and beautifully finished,
this 1975 Ford F-100 Ranger 4x4 is ready to work, play, or just
take you just about anywhere you want to go, thanks to
4-wheel-drive and a strong big block 429 V8 under the hood. Great
looks don't hurt, either.
In the '70s, if you needed stuff hauled, no matter how big, this
was how you did it. As a result, finding a truck that hasn't been
bashed and worked to within an inch of its life is no easy task.
Fortunately, this one has led an easier life of leisure, perhaps
scouting remote hunting grounds or trekking across fields to get to
a private fishing spot. The shiny Maroon paint was just applied in
2021 to a strong driver-quality standard, but by 4x4 truck
standards, it's very nice. Bright and shiny, smooth to the touch
and featuring a nice, deep gloss, it's not some perfect finish with
zero imperfections, but rather a dialed-in driver that looks
sweet-as-can-be from just a step or two away. You'll dig the Ranger
'dentside' stainless trim down the side of the body, as well as the
chrome bumpers fore and aft that make it look well-dressed for any
occasion. The bodywork is overall straight and clean thanks to the
Texas weather and what appears to be all its original sheetmetal
it's all very solid overall, so it's not like this is some wreck
that was rebuilt. No, it's just a really clean, heavy-duty
driver-quality pickup that's ready for new adventures. The bed is
finished with a spray-in bedliner so you can still use it as a
truck and there are no signs of abuse underneath.
Clean is the theme inside, too, where a fresh black seat cover for
the factory bench offers comfortable accommodations for three. The
newer black carpets on the floor works rather well with the
exterior paint job and dresses up the Ford's heavy-duty interior.
The instrument panel offers factory dials and a trio of auxiliary
gauges neatly installed just underneath, and the two-tone,
black-and-maroon dash really dresses things up a bit inside. The
Grant GT woodgrain steering wheel anchors the cockpit, and it's
joined on the column by an aftermarket tachometer and the shifter
for the automatic transmission below. You're also going to dig the
modern JVC AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo that sounds great thanks to new
speakers behind the seat, as well as fully functional Vintage A/C
that was neatly installed through the original-style control panel
in the center of the dash. And no pickup truck is complete without
a big back window, and this one also sports a really cool custom
headliner that commemorates our nation's finest 'pink-mist' seeking
veterans.
This is a big truck, but fortunately, there's a big V8 to move it
around. The 429 V8 under the long hood is not the original motor
(this truck was born with a 302 V8), but rather a fresh block that
was purchased and installed in 2013 complete with a Holley 4-barrel
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and long-tube headers. It's a
great-looking engine bay, with a chrome air cleaner up top, Ford
Blue paint on the valve covers and engine itself, along with giant,
bright aluminum radiator that keeps the whole show nice and cool.
It starts fast, idles smoothly once it warms up, and runs extremely
well thanks to proper tuning, and thanks to all those added cubes,
the horsepower and torque numbers are impressive enough to haul
away half of Home Depot. The rumble from the custom Thrush dual
exhaust system sounds more like a vintage muscle car than a big
pickup, and we'll admit that we like it a lot with the turn-downs
just past the rear axle. The C6 3-speed automatic transmission was
rebuilt in 2013 when the new motor was installed, and it shifts
very well while the 4-wheel-drive system engages without any drama,
so it's always ready to rock. The 4x4 chassis is heavy-duty enough
to go just about anywhere, and with manual locking hubs and a
2-speed transfer case, you don't have to worry about fragile parts
getting broken at the least opportune moment. 15-inch Dick Cepek
wheels wear grippy, big 37x13.50-15 Dick Cepek all-terrain tires
that finish the look perfectly.
This Ford truck is definitely up for whatever you're looking to do,
and thanks to the heavy-duty hardware, you'll never have to worry
about getting stuck. 4x4 Ford trucks are hard to come by,
especially in slick packages like this. She won't last long, call
