A beautiful, professionally restored 1972 Opel GT 1.9 L, 4-speed manual.
Very well documented, this car underwent restoration in 2013 and into 2014 and has been constantly upgraded and serviced since. The engine was professionally rebuilt in June 2013 with head work, cam and main bearings, pistons, the block was bored, new oil pump and a new exhaust was fitted. A new clutch, clutch cable, pilot bearing were added before reinstalling the engine. Now running a weber 32/36 DGEV carburetor with electric choke the car starts instantly and runs extremely well. The suspension has been rebuilt with a new steering rack, new bushings, rebuilt rear leaf springs, four brand new shocks, upper and lower ball joints and control arm bushings etc. The brake system was completely replaced with a new master cylinder, booster, wheel cylinders, calipers, rotors, pads and lines. An electric fuel pump was added as well as a new battery box battery and battery disconnect switch. During the restoration the fuel sending unit and oil pressure sending unit were replaced. The complete bodywork, which is also documented, included stripping the car to bare metal complete professional repaint, new weatherstripping, a new windshield and seal, new Chrome trim around the front and rear glass, new hoses fitted to a heavy duty 3 row radiator with a new water pump, thermostat and belt. The car also benefits from having a new headliner installed along with new door panels, new seat covers and new seat foams. It was then fitted with a retro sound audio system with an MP3 input. It is running on alloy wheels with newly installed Falken radial tires and the car was aligned in April 2021.
The previous owner also fitted halogen fog lamps in the grill as well as dual external mirrors. Completely rust free and showing only 80,000 miles, the car runs and drives beautifully and has been made more reliable with things added like an electric fuel pump, new heater control cables, new throttle linkage. The most recent improvements have been a new torque tube bearing, rubber bushing and mounts which were installed just this week. etc.
