You get the Subaru SVX Coupe. This example is just one of 3,667 that were exported to the United States during its debut year of 1992. It had the largest engine Subaru made until 2008 and a unique, aircraft-inspired window-within-a-window side glass. Dressed in desirable Pearl White (code 267), this example was made in September 1991 at Subaru?s Ota North Plant in Ota, Gunma, Japan. The car?s paint and trim are in overall excellent order while the body remains straight and solid. The engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery looks good, the cargo area is clean and looks good while the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the rest of the car. Regarding the window-within-a-window; some customers admired the feature while other, prospective customers walked away, shaking their heads in bewilderment. We personally like to visit local drive thrus! This Subaru rolls on BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 radials, size 225/40ZR18 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a black, five-spoke alloy wheel that are part of the optional SVX Touring package the car has. The wheels are in overall very good order, as are the tires. Under the hood is Subaru?s 3.3L DOHC, 24-valve, fuel-injected six-cylinder Boxer engine (code EG33DAX1DK), breathing via dual exhausts. The engine reportedly has the following new parts ? timing belt, water pump, thermostat, drive belt(s), battery, transmission fluid and brakes. Backing up the motor is a four-speed automatic transmission (code 4EATZ102ZM1AA) with manual mode and ACT-4 all-wheel drive with active torque split. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion steering, power brakes, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors and eight-way power driver?s seat. Safety equipment included a driver?s side airbag and anti-lock brakes. Inside, the dark gray leather (code 210) interior is in overall very good order. The thickly bolstered front buckets and fold-down rear bench seat are in great shape, includes the matching carpet and headliner. There is a four-spoke steering wheel with an airbag. The inner door panels and instrument panel have held up well. There?s a center console with its shift lever. A factory AM/FM stereo with coaxial premium sound, cassette deck and a six-disc CD changer rounds out the interior. Subaru introduced the SVX in the United States in July 1991 (as a 1992 model), following the US debut with a Japanese market introduction in September of that same year. The model was designed and marketed as the replacement for the Alcyone XT and Alcyone XT6 coupes. Outside Japan, the Alcyone designation was dropped, and the car was marketed as the Subaru SVX. The 1992 Subaru Legacy received a facelift inspired by the SVX. The introduction of the SVX followed the 1990 introduction of the Acura NSX and the 1980 introduction of the Isuzu Piazza. The MSRP for the US base model 1992 was the SVX-L, with the top of the line model with touring package (leather trim, eight-way electronic seat adjustment, tilt steering column and slide sunroof), called the LS-L. A rear spoiler was optional on 1992 L and LS-L models. Competition to this Subaru in 1992 included Chevrolet?s Camaro, Dodge?s Daytona, Eagle?s Talon, Ford?s Mustang, Honda?s Prelude, Isuzu?s Impulse, Mitsubishi?s Eclipse, Nissan?s 240SX, Plymouth?s Laser, Pontiac?s Firebird and Toyota?s Supra. If you had one of these in high school or college and you want one again, stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars to check out this SVX. This was Subaru?s experiment in the deep end of the sports coupe market. If you remember what life was like before getting married, before the kids came along, you should stop by sooner than later!
