is the legendary LS2 6.0-liter V8 motor paired with a smooth
shifting automatic transmission.
This awesome crossover is one of just 7,279 built in 2005 and one
of only 1,637 in Redline Red. Chevrolet is no secret on building
fast and powerful vehicles that provide a ton of muscle for little
money. The SSR is one that is destined to be a future collectible.
The car debuted at the Detroit auto show in 2000 and the reaction
was immediate, customers running into their local Chevy dealership
to reserve their spot in line for the concept that was soon to
become a reality in 2003. GM green-lighted the concept with a few
modest changes to the concept, but the biggest let down was the
engine and transmission. Automatic and a wimpy 5.3L V8 was the
standard setup and turned the hot rod concept into a utility
machine. Fast forward to 2005 and Chevy turned up the performance
with the Corvette-based 6.0L and availability of the 6spd manual
transmission. Now with 390HP and a 0-60 time of 5.5seconds this
vehicle had the looks, power, and the rarity. Only 7,196 SSR's were
produced for the USA market.
