For Sale: 1994 Cadillac Sedan in Morgantown, Pennsylvania
The name "DeVille" is derived from the French de la ville or de
ville meaning "of the town". In French coach building parlance, a
coupe de ville, from the French couper (to cut) i.e. shorten or
reduce, was a short four-wheeled closed carriage with an inside
seat for two and an outside seat for the driver and this smaller
vehicle was intended for use in the town or city (de ville).
This Cadillac is a three owner car, here for consignment, and your
driving pleasure. Recent upgrades include a new A/C clutch fan, new
copper/nickel brake lines, new shocks, and a new battery. Also a
desirable 4.9 liter engine, pre-dating the problematic Northstar,
and it makes 200hp!
Exterior
Long straight rust free steel panels with nicely minded gaps are
all bathed in Carmine Red Metallic. A somewhat rounded off design,
and a little larger rear doors than the fronts, allows the
important passengers plenty of private space in back. A shiny egg
crate grille is flanked by molded headlights that wrap around the
front quarters to form the parking and signal lighting. Just below
is a body matching neoprene bumper that has a chromed trimming
running through its upper quarter. This piece runs the entire way
around the car and adds a nice highlight to the Carmine Red. The
glass is all beautifully preserved and has some thin tasteful
trimming surrounds. On back the long trunk deck melts seamlessly
into the tail lighting which is a bit of a tribute to the Caddy's
of the mid 1960's with a thin vertical, now squared off tail light.
Turbine teardrop style wheel coverings are wrapped by thin white
wall rubber.
Interior
Opening the big doors the luxury begins with molded plastic panels
in light gray which forms the pulls, armrests, and actuator
inserts. At the sill is a rounded molded on wood applique and below
uses light gray carpeting. On the armrest we note toggles for power
windows, power seat adjustment, power locks, and power mirror
adjustments. Inside a large split back (with a lowering armrest)
wide buckets covered in light gray leather which has aged
gracefully with some folds and no cracks. These present with tuck
and roll, inserts and smooth bolsters. In back when we swing the
extra long doors we have full access to a rear bench with another
fold down armrest in the same pattern as the front buckets. This
bench is nice and tall on the backs and has a comfortable rest at
the top for extra head and neck support. These overstuffed chairs
float in a sea of clean gray carpeting. The dash top has an
undulating line which is covered in light gray padded vinyl.
Underneath is a wood applique panel that houses the blue LCD
speedo/mileage display in the center and is surrounded by many push
button controls for all the conveniences. The left dash has a trip
computer, and the right a temp control panel. Below in the center
is a digital blue LCD display AM/FM/Cassette stereo with a built-in
eq. More light gray molded plastic surrounds the wood framing for
the radio. Up top is a nice tight gray felted headliner. A nod to
the trunk which is the size of a NYC apartment and is lined with
gray felting.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a highly detailed and shiny engine bay, is a 4.9
liter V8. It is fed by EFI, and on back to spin the 2.73 front axle
is a 4T60E 4-speed automatic transmission. All in reliable non
Northstar form and producing 200hp.
Undercarriage
Showing some surface rust on various bolts that secure the floor
pans, and lots of patina all in the midst of a solid black unibody
frame. This surface rust has also migrated to the rockers
particularly on the back of the rear wheel wells but is still of
the light invasion. Front and rear power ABS disc brakes are all
around. Rack and pinion steering with all independent suspension is
noted. A clean back end of the exhaust is present.
Drive-Ability
A smooth riding quick starting car that can provide comfort for 6
even on a long haul. Consigner states the car has been very
reliable since his acquisition from the previous owner's widow. All
functions are working just fine and it is definitely a comfy
cruiser.
Large and in charge, this long smooth Carmine Red painted luxury
car is ready to please its next owners. At your service, and all in
Cadillac luxury.
