For Sale: 1946 Ford Custom in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Here is a Hot rod with extensive custom work. Very comfortable cruiser. It's roomy and has the luxury of power, brakes, windows and air conditioning.

EXTERIOR: It's an older restoration that has held up really well. The body is very straight, there's no rust or damage. It's had extensive custom body work. The roof was chopped 4 inches, all the chrome trim has been removed and filled. Upfront the headlights were frenched, it has custom turnsignals, the bumper was removed and the lower valance is custom. The door handles on the roof and trunk were removed and they open with a removed. In back the trunk was smoothed and opens using a cable in the fuel door. The bumper was removed, taillights relocated, it has a roll pan with recessed license plate. There are some cracks in the paint on the roof and hood, nothing that stands out. Overall it's smooth and glossy. It's dressed up with dummy spot lights and hand pinstripes on the trunk. The side windows were replaced with smoked glass. The windshield is V butted. It has a 3rd brake light in the rear window. The aluminum wheels are genuine Halibrand bolt inside with spinners. They are 14 inch in front, 15s in back.

INTERIOR: Very comfortable and roomy. 4 adults could fit in here with no trouble. The blue tweed upholstery is on the seats, door panels, kick panels and below the dash, it's still in excellent condition. Blue cloth headliner is excellent, it has working interior light. The seats feel good, cushions were replaced. The door panels are custom molded. The headliner has blue cloth and working dome light. The windows are power. The metal trim is painted to match the car. The dash was custom fabricated with built in a/c, a billet bezel with blue digital gauges. It has a Ford tilt column with a polished wood steering wheel. It has Vintage Air controls, Sony CD stereo and blue seat belts.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine bay is painted the color of the car, it has a smooth firewall. The 302 engine is rebuilt with mild performance upgrades. It has an Edelbrock intake, dual feed Holley carb and a set of headers. Dressed up with aluminum valve covers and air cleaner. The front of the motor has a Ford power steering unit, chrome alternator and a Vintage Air system. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan keeps it cool. It has an easily accessible remote oil filter.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk opens with a pull cable that's hidden inside the fuel door. Inside the trunk it's been boxed and upholstered in tweed, even the bottom of the trunk lid. It's a carpeted floor with some fading on the carpet. There is a full size spare and the battery is relocated to the trunk.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame during the custom build. Everything is painted the same light blue color. Up front is a Mustang ll independent suspension with coil over shocks and a rack and pinion steering. In back it uses parallel leaf springs and shocks. Custom dual exhaust looks like it was recently installed. The power brake booster and master is located under the car. It has disc in front. Looking up at the motor it looks clean, starter looks fresh. The trans is a Ford C-4 automatic with a finned aluminum pan. In back is a 10 bolt rear with a chrome cover. The metal floors are real clean and painted smooth and glossy.

It's an older build but I'm very impressed how well the car has been cared for. It's still smooth and glossy, the upholstery is very clean. It even smells good inside! We just acquired it back from the couple we sold it to 8 years ago. They enjoyed the car very much, now it's your turn!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
