?Red line radials and Rally wheels ?Low-back bucket seats and

1967, the muscle car race was not far behind. Chevrolet?s entry in
the latter was Chevelle?s SS 396, just like this example! Just
three years before 1967, General Motors unveiled its new line of
mid-sized cars to slot between the traditional full-sizers and the
compacts revealed in 1960 (Corvair) and 1962 (Chevy II). Made in
GM?s Atlanta, Georgia factory (VIN code A) during the first week of
June 1967. It came with the following options ? a Muncie
four-speed, wide-ratio manual transmission (code RPO M20), a tinted
windshield (code A02), center console (code D55) and rear antenna
(code U73). The car is dressed in correct Bolero Red (code R) and
the paint and trim are in overall excellent order. The bodywork is
straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, there?s an AC
Delco battery and the chrome bumpers are in great shape and fit
tightly to the body. This SS Chevelle rolls on Red Line radials,
size 215/75R14 at every corner. Each tire is mounted to an original
Rally wheel. The wheels are in excellent order while the tires are
in very good condition. Under the hood is the SS 396 CID V-8 paired
to an original four-speed wide-ratio Muncie manual transmission
(code M20) and 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.36:1 gearing.
Driver convenience features include vintage air-conditioning that
blows nice and cold. Inside, the car?s correct red interior (code
750) is in overall excellent condition, with the low-back front
bucket seats and a rear bench. The matching red carpet and
headliner are in similar shape. A correct three-spoke steering
wheel with the SS in the hub faces the driver and looks great. The
dashboard, with its strip-style speedometer and ignition switch
plus the inner door panels are all in excellent order. The car?s
correct center console, with its shifter, clock and a trio of
aftermarket gauges help round out the interior, along with a
factory AM radio and air conditioning vents. The 1967 models
received a facelift. Large wraparound taillamps went into a new
rear end with standard backup lights. ?What you'll see inside,?
claimed the sales brochure for the 1967 Chevelle, ?will probably
bring on a severe compulsion to go driving.? Front disc brakes were
available on all models and a new dual master cylinder brake system
incorporated a warning light. Chevrolet also added 14-inch wheels.
New safety equipment became standard, including a collapsible
steering column. The SS396 continued as its own series with both
sport coupe and convertible body styles. This is a well sorted out
and honest ?67 Chevelle SS with exceptional road manners and tons
of integrity. If you?re even remotely interested in a classic
