With only 5,600 miles this 2007 Pontiac G6 GT hardtop convertible may have the lowest odometer reading of them all. It is a magnificent example of Pontiac’s sporty design that introduced the company’s first retractable hardtop mechanism, similar to those offered by BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
This G6 is as nice as you’ll find, which is no surprise given its low mileage. It still has a hint of new car smell almost 15 years later! The 2-door body style has great lines with the top up or down. This one also has a couple additional touches in the form of whitewall tires along with a later model “vented” rear fascia (the original is also included). But the highlight of this car has to be the clamshell retractable hardtop that operates with just the touch of a button. It is a slick design that offers the sound and temperature insulation of a hardtop but also provides the open air enjoyment of a convertible.
The engine in this GT is the optional 3.9L LZ9 V6 rated at 227hp. It features both variable length intake runners and variable valve timing for optimum performance at any speed. This then feeds a 4T45 4-speed automatic transaxle. The front wheel drive configuration gives nice all-weather performance while maximizing cabin space. Of course, the G6 is also equipped with power steering, power 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, and stability control.
The black leather interior offers bucket seats fore and aft. The front seats are heated while the rear seats have center mounted shoulder belts to allow for a better retractable roof design. Other features include automatic climate control and an AM/FM/CD stereo with steering wheel controls. And of course there is the retracting hardtop; just hold the button and watch it work. Note the trunk has hinges at both the front (for use as a conventional trunk) and the rear (for use with the power top).
This G6 is a very unique automobile. It is a 4-seat retractable hardtop from an American automaker. It is a GT with many nice options including the larger engine. It has very few miles. And when you consider a similar new convertible might cost 3-4 times this asking price, it becomes a very good deal as well.
