Chevrolet C10 magazine ad headline Hagerty described the Sixties
Chevy pickups: Aircraft-inspired 'nacelles' graced the hood of the
attractively restyled 1960 Chevrolet C10, which now relied on
independent front suspension (the pickup market's first) sprung by
torsion bars instead of coils. Coil springs brought up the rear in
place of the leafs installed prior to 1960. Conventional coils
replaced the torsion bars up front in 1963, allowing the frame's
reinforcing x-member, in place since 1960, to be deleted. The 1960
model year was the first in which Chevy pickups featured a
full-width pickup box as standard equipment. Styling is a hit or
miss affair for the earlier years (1960-62), with wrap-around
windshields and their unique hoods that are all but impossible to
find as replacements. GM discontinued this difficult-to-stamp
component for the 1963 model year, even for collision replacement
parts, so it's not unusual to find earlier trucks with the later
1963-66 hoods. Those later years saw styling that was more
mainstream looking, and those are generally most sought-out by
collectors. Externally, only the trim shuffle games prevalent in
Detroit at the time differentiate 1964 through 1966s. Offered here
is a fully restored, respectfully upgraded, and substantially
up-engined 1965 C10 Chevrolet Pickup in orange and ivory over the
same color combination interior. Showing just 58 miles on its
odometer since its rotisserie restoration work was completed, the
truck is virtually flawless in every respect. The superb quality of
the truck's paintwork is the result of a comprehensive, frame-off,
glass-out respray. Originally a southern truck, the rotisserie
restoration began with a rust-free body and chassis. (The
accompanying gallery includes photo documentation of the work.) The
orange and ivory two-tone combination was applied to the body in
keeping with the factory spec, down to and including the
C-h-e-v-r-o-l-e-t embossed tailgate lettering in ivory. Every
painted body panel exhibits perfect gloss, and there are no dings
or dents anywhere on the truck. (To best assess the quality of the
paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs
of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Cabin glass and lighting
lenses are pristine. Chrome brightwork-on the grille, both bumpers,
stylized body-side trim, cab trim, mirrors and door handles, and
lighting trim-is outstanding. Chain tailgate supports even include
the plastic sleeves protecting the body from scratches. Factory
badging, including the Chevrolet front-grille and tailgate
lettering, C10 hood-side emblems, and script Custom cab lettering
is all as-new and perfectly sharp. The cargo bed wood and metal rub
strips are likewise brand new and perfectly installed. Chrome,
18-inch XD® wheels are mounted with Kelly® Edge 245/60 all-season
tires. Inside, the exterior color combination continues on metal
surfaces, and the quality of the finish is equally outstanding.
Upgraded TMI® bucket seats upholstered in black leather in a
horizontally pleated pattern are separated by a matching
storage-armrest unit with cupholders. Black carpeting covers the
floors. Simple door trim is ivory-painted metal. A chrome, 3-spoke
