This 2007 Saleen Mustang Parnelli Jones Edition is the best of
everything. After all, it takes the style of the classic Boss 302
that Jones made a legend on the track. And it's done in a modern
Mustang that has been fully built to be a performance hero. It's
such a well-done performance package that Parnelli Jones and Steve
Saleen signed the dash of this limited edition.
The retro-styled 2007 Mustang was ripe for customizers to start
mining the past, but none did it so successfully as this Parnelli
Jones tribute car built by Saleen. One part vintage Boss 302, one
part modern Saleen, and one part race car - it has an awesome look
that's nostalgic but still very contemporary. Saleen cars are known
for their high build quality, and the low odometer is believed to
show the full actual mileage. So you have an attractive package
that remains looking awesome. The Grabber Orange paint with full
black striping is exactly how we remember number 15's car circling
the Trans-Am circuit. In fact, it includes the full classic look
with rear window louvers, a rear wing, and special Parnelli Jones
branded Minilite-style wheels. And we love the look of the addition
of the shaker hood secured with hood pins. Plus there's a touch of
modern Saleen style with the split headlight covers, and the
individual numbering that tells the world this is #36 of only 500
ever made.
The interior is a terrific custom presentation. You can see it in
obvious places, like the bold orange inserts in the leather seats
that go with the exterior color, but take some time to get a closer
look. Because the seats have a cool/classic cross pattern on top
and the Parnelli Jones is in the middle. This is also repeated on
the horn cap and shifter. And don't forget about the actual
signatures right in the center of the dash. And while the interior
looks like this has hardly ever seen seat time, it will be hard to
resist such a comfortable car. It comes with a ton of features like
cold-blowing air conditioning, power windows, power locks, keyless
entry/alarm, dual airbags, side airbags, power steering, cruise
control, electric rear defogger, a Shaker 500 AM/FM stereo w/CD
changer, and a power driver's seat.
Fans of the Mustang know that this was the era of the excellent
4.6-liter modular V8. Those are fine motors but when you're
building a coupe with the blessing of Parnelli Jones you make sure
it earns its Boss 302 logos. So Saleen rebuilt this into a full
performance package that also includes a true 302 cubic-inch
displacement. It's a super-clean setup that's believed to be the
full original Saleen, right down to the iconic hood shaker. This is
said to be a 400 horsepower package, and the five-speed manual
transmission puts this all firmly under your control. And speaking
of control, you have four-wheel power disc brakes, Pirelli sport
tires, and Saleen upgraded the suspension.
