Excalibur, Stutz?s Blackhawk and Zimmer?s Golden Spirit and
Quicksilver, there is the Tiffany Classic Coupe. Using the core of
a 1984 Mercury Cougar Coupe to build around, this car blends the
best of the 1930s classics with the 1980s creature comforts. This
example was converted in April 1985. Dressed in white, the car?s
body is a combination of fiberglass panels and steel doors. The
car?s paint and trim are in overall very good order. The bodywork
is straight and solid, the chrome bumpers fit tightly to the
fiberglass panels. There are dual side-mounted spare tires,
cabriolet trim, four chrome trumpet horns, twin amber foglamps,
supercharger pipes and an impressive chrome grille. The cargo bay
and engine compartment are both in very good shape. This neoclassic
rolls on wide whitewall tires. Each one is mounted on a chrome wire
wheel with spinners. The Tiffany is 18.5-feet in length and rides a
145-inch wheelbase. Under the hood is a 5.0L V-8 engine with
electronic fuel injection from the mid-1980s, despite the
?Supercharged? script on the fenders. The engine is mated to a
four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Driver
convenience features include air-conditioning(blows, but not cold),
power steering, power brakes, power locks, power sideview mirrors,
six-way power front seats, tilt steering column, cruise control and
a digital dash. Inside, the car has front buckets and a rear bench.
The seats, carpet and headliner all look great. There?s a standard
two-spoke steering wheel with a standard 80s design. The inner door
panels and woodgrain dash all echo the rest of the interior?s
condition, but the fuel gauge is inop. There are custom Tiffany
floor mats, the center console, column-mounted shifter and Pioneer
AM/FM stereo with a cassette deck. George Levin bought the Classic
Motor Carriages (CMC) Inc. around 1978 in Opa-Locka, Florida, just
outside of Miami from original owner Charlie Massing. The Gazelle,
a 1929 Mercedes Replica, the Tiffany and the Speedster were a few
of the company?s popular models. After Levin bought the company, he
engaged in a massive marketing blitz, showing his products in
magazines, airports, car shows, billboards etc. During its prime,
it is reported that CMC made $15 to $20 million a year in revenue,
selling hundreds of kits a month. The company closed in 1994. It
has since reopened under the name Street Beasts. Documentation
includes a zippered tote bag with original owner?s manual (1984
Mercury Cougar), original operating guide, original warranty
information, Pioneer KE-A880 owner?s manual and hood ornament. If
