1954 Ford F100 Pickup
In 1925 the Ford Motor Company introduced the first "pickup" based
on the Model T Runabout. Ford offered the rear "pickup box"
separately at their dealer parts department for $25.00. The box was
then bolted onto the back of the vehicle as an accessory. Since the
box was "picked up" at the parts department by the customer, the
term "pickup" took hold for this style of vehicle. Later the box
was installed at the factory and evolved into today's pickup
trucks.
For consignment, a totally restored Ford F-100 from an estate where
it was well cared for and barely driven. Lots of attention to
detail has been paid to this truck, and this final product shows
it. These trucks seem to be very popular at Classic Auto Mall
lately, so it is suggested you show up sooner rather than later for
your chance to have it permanently in your collection.
Exterior
Meadow Green was the original build paint, and this truck now has a
new coating of it, and it displays beautifully. Just a few faults
within the field of green in the form of some underlying rust
bubbling. With its "phat" white painted metal grille complete with
a big V8 badge in the center, and a single headlight on either
side, this is iconic design for 50's Ford trucks. A bulbous hood,
with some brite work on either side, makes its way back to a single
pane windshield and rounded cab area. Perfect black painted steel
running boards connect the front and rear rounded fenders. Nice
thin black wall tires adorn each corner and are capped by FORD
stamped chrome moons. The tailgate works flawlessly, and a
beautiful oak lined bed makes its way from the tailgate to the cab.
Bumpers are painted black and offer up an air of simplicity.
Overall paint is beautifully applied.
Interior
Swing open the steel paneled Meadow Green utilitarian doors, and
you are immediately welcomed by a green vinyl leather textured
bench seat. As immaculate as it gets, the metal dash, also in
Meadow Green, houses various pristine white gauges, essential knobs
and a single extra gauge hanging below. The fully restored steering
wheel and column fronts the dash. The floors are covered in
perfectly preserved rubber and all glass is near perfection. Above
is a gray molded plastic headliner.
Drivetrain
A lift of the hood and you are gazing into a wonderfully restored
engine bay, which includes a fully rebuilt Ford Power King 239ci V8
engine, in the correct color I might add. It is fed by a rebuilt
2-barrel carburetor. Bolted on the back is a 3-speed manual
transmission which throws power to a 3.92 rear axle. Just
beautifully finished with all hoses and bolt ons, in mint
condition.
Undercarriage
No rust seen here either, just straight structurally sound framing
and body hangers. Barely even any road dirt here and the underside
off the bed shows like new. Leaf spring suspension and drum brakes
are all around this truck.
Drive-Ability
Stepping inside it starts right up and runs swimmingly. All
functions were working perfectly, and it is a great driver easy to
operate.
For an individual who just enjoys a nostalgic truck cruise in a
truly original looking and correct truck, this could be it. For the
collector who wants to show a beautiful example of the F-100, this
is it. For the business who may want to use it as a promotional
piece, and attract a lot of eyeballs, this could be it. Make your
