Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery
The 1957 Chevrolet sedan delivery is a rare find. Though many were
produced in the late 50's, because they were used as work vehicles,
few are left and even fewer are in good shape. They were built to
use as milk trucks, delivering groceries, stuff like that, and they
used them up and then they were gone. Many just rotted out. The
1957 Chevy delivery is a sought-after collectible among car
enthusiasts. Chevy only produced the delivery sedan for four years
before it was phased out in 1960.
For consignment, a rare bird in the form of a '57 Chevy Sedan
Delivery. With no back seat for more cargo area and bathed in robin
egg blue now with a 307ci V8 circa 1969 there is plenty of power
for the haul, or delivery in classic style. And with this rear
cargo area windows filled in plenty of room to slather your
business name on there and attract some attention.
Exterior
An older restoration for the exterior, but it still maintains its
shine, is rust free. It does have a few areas of cracking and
crazing of the paint, and some chip offs at the gaps, but these
remain well minded. 1957 was the year of the fin on this car and it
sports nice ones topped with chrome and lower inset crescent
taillights that float above the rear bumper. Not to be outdone, the
front grille surrounds a now black egg crate design, had visored
single headlights on either side, and rubber tipped "Dagmars" on
either corner of the surround. Dual jet age rockets are leading the
way on the hood along with a gold Chevrolet badge in your
grandmother's handwriting and just below a large silver shiny
chevron. Noted above the windshield is a metal visor with a chrome
trimmed edge and some shiny rear-view mirrors hanging off of the
doors. All chrome is very nice and retrains a good shine. 15 inch
chromed and polished rally wheels are wrapped with raised white
letter Cooper Cobra tires.
Interior
All new leather textured vinyl in light gray for the uppers on the
doors, and darker vinyl for the lowers and armrest. Mix in some
metal framing for the armrest in robin egg blue, as well as shiny
knobs and handles and we are looking snazzy. That look continues as
we slip inside on to newer gray vinyl covered oversized late model
buckets. As we get comfortable in these we can gaze upon the
original metal dash now in two tone robin egg blue with white
accenting. A chromed woven punched band runs through the bottom of
the dash, and large white metal bezels house the original gauges.
More blue metal and that chromed band abound in front of the
passenger. Black carpeting floods the floors, and on the side
panels we see black vinyl with a white tight headliner above which
seems to go on for miles on the rear cargo area. With the visor in
front, a traffic light fresnel lens is mounted to the dash so one
can see when the light changes without bending over and trying to
look up.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is now a DC coded 307ci V8 from 1969. It is topped
with a 4-barrel carburetor and has a TH400 3-speed automatic
transmission on back with a 3.36 rear axle. All nicely detailed
with a red block, chromed valve coverings and supple hoses and rust
and corrosion free bolt ons.
Undercarriage
Previously fully restored and recoated in black rust free and
structurally sound. Some new rack and pinion parts, rust free
exhaust, and power drum brakes all around it's ready to haul...some
ass!
Drive-Ability
A quick starter and smooth runner. All comfortable for these late
model buckets, and with no power steering it is still a breeze to
drive. The wipers would not shut off and the radio was inoperable,
but all else was working just fine.
Robin egg blue for this Chevrolet Sedan Delivery easter egg,
retaining its shine, and not often seen in this sedan delivery
style. A nice new interior, a newer 307ci engine, a promo piece if
there ever was one for your business, just imagine "your name
here".
