RECENT SERVICE & DETAILING INVOICES Introduced in 1949, the
Cadillac Coupe was one of the first pillarless hardtop coupes
produced. Based on Cadillac's stylish and popular Series 62, the
Coupe and its Sedan de Ville counterpart delivered everything good
in Series 62 with leading-edge hardtop body construction allowing
more daring styling cues. While sales were relatively low at first,
they rose strongly through the 1950s, ensuring the Series 62
mainstay status in the Cadillac model range for many years. By
1956, the last for Cadillac's 1954-56 styling theme, all models
received subtle updates including a new rear bumper with raised
oval dual exhaust outlets and a refinement of Cadillac's
aircraft-inspired tailfins. Cadillac's respected OHV V-8 engine was
enlarged to 365 CI and 285 horsepower, with dual carburetors and
305 HP optional. for greater power and drivability. While total
Series 62 production reached about 134,500 for 1956, just 25,086
Coupe de Villes were built that year and fewer still are as nice as
this long-term, collector-owned example, which has never before
been offered at auction nor sold publicly.Highly original and very
well maintained, this series 62 features an excellent repaint and
it clearly benefits handsomely from extensive service and complete
detailing performed by The Last Detail on behalf of the current
owner. According to recent and detailed invoices with the vehicle,
major items addressed include a full vehicle inspection, complete
brake-system rebuild, a fuel-system cleaning and overhaul from the
gas tank to the carburetor and fuel gauge, and steering/chassis
alignment. The quality paint finish was nonetheless elevated to a
higher level with a professional wet sand and polish. The interior
also received our careful attention, with new window seals and
surrounding cloth, plus rebuilding of the factory dash clock and
fuel-level gauge. New period-style modern tires were also fitted
for a great look and drive. Accompanying items include a spare
wheel/tire complete with hub cap, a roadside jack and lug wrench.
At the time of writing, mileage is just under 54,490 miles,
believed correct. Cadillac dominated the American luxury-car market
of the 1950s, and it's easy to see why, with this handsome, highly
original, and very well maintained 1956 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe de
Ville. Featuring outstanding colors and presence, it is ready to
show and of course, drive along a nice stretch of open road.
