Vehicle Description
This 1950 Chevrolet 3100 is a mean-looking custom on the outside
because that shining dual-quad supercharged V8 is always on
display. But this has plenty more than just pure hot rod appeal.
With a custom A/C interior, an overdrive transmission, four-wheel
disc brakes, and a fully independent suspension, this pickup is
really a thoughtful total package.
You could spend hours recognizing all the custom work that went
into this truck. The chopped cab, shaved door handles, Buick
headlights, LED tail lights, and exhaust integrated into the
running boards are just the beginning of what makes this so cool.
The matte black paint is the right choice because this wants to pay
tribute to the home-built hot rods that inspired it. But this is
quite a professional custom with less than 5,200 miles on it since
being complete. So the application was careful and the finish has a
quality smoothness. This makes for the perfect foundation to
showcase all the bright hand-laid pinstriping that accents every
major piece of this pickup. And what really sets this off nicely
are the 16-inch wheels done to look like classic red solid units
with a smoothie center. They're on a lowered suspension that tucks
those rear tires in for a cool and sporty stance.
When you pop the door openers, there are more thoughtful details
awaiting you inside. After all, when was the last time you saw a
hot rod with a cup holder console in-between. The suede-like seat
inserts with a diamond pattern look so good that we're glad they
used it for details like the door inserts and trans tunnel, too.
You've even got an AM/FM/CD stereo and cold-blowing air
conditioning. It's also a better driver with a tilt steering
column, classic-style AutoMeter gauges, and a Moon half-sweep tach.
And while there's plenty of modern comforts, it makes sure to give
you the right lassi style. It's in the details, like vintage-style
racing belts, tall gearshift with piston topper, dual-spoke
steering wheel, and all the pinstriping on the dash.
A motor like this deserves to always be on display. We're told it
was built by the professionals at Big Al's Toybox, and it has the
full polished presentation to win you awards all on its own. And
the subtle checker pattern in the firewall is another one of this
truck's thoughtful details. Of course, what also makes this awesome
is the power. It starts with a 355 cubic-inch V8, and this is fed
by dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors. And in-between the two
is a blower to supercharge your horsepower into the stratosphere.
There's even a nice set of shorty headers to add power to the
package as well as add rumble to the dual exhaust. It is also
thoughtfully done for better use with features like an aluminum
radiator, steel braided lines w/AN fittings, and a relocated
battery to remain weather-tight. And as you look underneath, you'll
see a fully-independent suspension borrowed from a Corvette. So
yes, this is a street machine that knows how to take corners. And
there's also power steering, a modern tire tread behind the classic
whitewall style, and four-wheel power disc brakes. So if this is
starting to sound like a great driver for near or far, then you'll
really appreciate the four-speed automatic transmission featuring
overdrive.
