For Sale: 1975 MG MGB in JEFFERSON, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

I am not much for foreign cars, yet seem to always want a little roadster to bomb around in.  I love the way you can throw them into the corners.  They are spunky, easy on gas, don’t take much storage room and are a lot of bang for the buck.

This car was for sale not far from me.  It was owned by a businessman who had developed Arthritis and was unable to get back out of the car once he got in.  His son put it up for sale and I was fortunate to buy it.  I could tell they provided the car with good care.

I am 6’5” tall and go about 270.  You would think I would struggle for room in this car.  But I don’t.  I recently owned an Alfa Romeo and can attest to the significant more leg room in the MG.  I have no problems operating the pedals with my big size 14 shoes and my legs don’t impede shifting like in other foreign sport cars.

Thid car was sold new in Illinois.  Fortunately, it has never been winter driven.  As a result, it is rust-free.  The repaint to the original Blaze (orange) is older, yet looks very nice.  There are no signs of body work or rust anywhere.  The paint did not need to be touched up.

I was told that the interior is original.  It is certainly in great condition.  The carpet looks too nice to be original, yet it looks like it came from the factory.  The upholstery is in great condition.  The dash is not cracked.  The tops of the door panels are the only areas showing any wear.  The convertible top has been replaced and looks new.  There is a tonneau cover and a top boot that are likely original.  Both are in nice condition.

The 1798 cc engine starts and runs great.  The Twin SU carburetors are synchronized.  The choke is manual, so keep that in mind when starting the engine cold.

The clutch is brand new.  It is hydraulic and the master cylinder has been replaced.  The transmission is the four speed without overdrive.

These cars have rack and pinion steering and front disc brakes.  A perfect combination for aggressive driving through the corners.  The14 inch radial tires were installed recently and handle the road well while helping provide a smooth ride.

Additional equipment includes a full set of jacking equipment and spare tire, an extra steering wheel of larger diameter, Operator’s manuals, a rear luggage rack and a modern AM/FM/CD stereo.

One feature of the MG B that is particularly enjoyable to me is the cowl ventilation system.  These cars offer great flow-through ventilation reminiscent of pre-war cars.

The odometer reading of 54,561 is claimed to be actual, however, there is no documentation to support the claim.  Due to the age, this car is being sold as “exempt” from odometer disclosure.  I believe the condition of the car supports the claim and you will agree when you see it.
