Vehicle Description
Chevrolet's first-generation Chevelle is a timeless design that, no
matter how it's built, always remains fresh and alluring. Stock,
modified, race, pro-touring, whatever: the clean lines and balanced
stance on these tough muscle machines mix classic swagger with a
modernist look that serves as the perfect platform for a variety of
modifications. And best of all, the Chevelle line's universal
appeal and high production numbers mean it has one of the largest
aftermarket support networks in the entire collector car hobby. An
authentic Super Sport coupe that's been converted into one of the
sickest rides around via massaged chassis components and a massaged
396, this red-hot Chevy is a sweet magazine centerfold that's just
waiting to be discovered. Looking for a fully-sorted cruiser that
puts a hot rod spin on an old school favorite? Take a look at your
next car!
LIGHT THE TORCH
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that shows
exceptionally well, this razor-sharp resto-mod wears a clean and
solid body under vivid Torch Red two-stage. At the front of that
gloss, an attractive Super Sport grille centers a prominent "SS396"
emblem between a mirrored bumper, small parking lamps and bright
halogen headlights. Behind that grille, a chrome-trimmed Super
Sport hood creeps toward straight stainless frames, which join
polished wipers and painted drip rails to cage smoked glass. At the
sides of that hood, familiar fender flags and quarter-mounted
"Super Sport" scripts cage stylish bowtie mirrors and traditional
door handles. And out back, a "C H E V E L L E" branded valance
hangs vintage taillights and a second "SS396" emblem above a second
chrome bumper.
FUEL FOR FIRE
Few cars fit the 'muscle car' description better than a Chevelle.
Clocking in at exactly 402 cubic inches, this coupe's rowdy 396
twists epic horsepower into miles of low-end torque! At the top of
that legendary mill, an aluminum air cleaner drops breeze through a
coated Holley 4-barrel, which rides a polished Edelbrock Performer
RPM intake. That intake floods cast iron heads, which tilt hardened
seats and smooth hydraulic lifters between a hydraulic cam, trick
Chevrolet valve covers and a .030 overbore. Compression gets
sparked by loomed Taylor plug wires and a hot HEI distributor. A
polished Billet Specialties V-Trac drive spins a polished
alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. A big electric puller
fan plays well with a big aluminum radiator. Exhaust rolls through
long Hedman Hedders. And the car's smoothed, Satin Black engine bay
is dotted with choice detailing like billet tanks, trick dipsticks,
a polished brake booster, a quality Wilwood master cylinder and a
coated fuel pump.
BUILT FOR SPEED
Bottom-side, the monster mill spins power through a traditional
Muncie 4-speed to a familiar 12-bolt axle that's finished with an
open differential. That proven drivetrain rides an adjustable
Heidts 4-link, which pushes a fully independent front-clip that's
been thoughtfully upgraded with modern coil-overs and beefy Heidts
control arms. That suspension, planting the car three inches lower
than stock, gets led by a power-assisted Classic Performance
Products steering box. Stops are provided by power-assisted Wilwood
calipers, which squeeze a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors.
Large-diameter pipes breathe through welded, dual-chamber mufflers.
And at the corners of the car, attractive Billet Specialties
Fuelies spin 235/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of
255/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.
HEADING OUT TO THE HIGHWAY
This Chevelle's thorough restoration included the installation of
an era-correct vinyl interior that's as timeless now as it was in
1966! Firm Super Sport buckets cage a factory console that's
centered on a short Hurst shifter. A familiar Super Sport dash
hangs slick Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to modern audio and
Vintage Air conditioning. Fade-free side panels parallel fade-free
carpet that's protected by color-keyed floor mats. The driver spins
a sweet Billet Specialties Draft wheel. And the passengers store
essentials in a custom upholstered trunk.
Sometimes the best cars are the ones that speak softly. No blower
sticking through the hood, no fat tires on a stiff chassis and no
wild graphics; just a clean, classy and well-constructed muscle car
that was purpose-built to look good and run great. Featuring
timeless style, great performance and a great restoration, this
authentic Chevelle Super Sport is an absolute blast to cruise and
show. Don't miss your chance to own a powerful, well-sorted muscle
car that's as timeless today as it was 55 years ago!
