Vehicle Description
Cadillacs were truly the envy of the elite when this 1953 Series 62
coupe was built. And with its correct big V8 still under the hood,
and a personality that owns the road, this example upholds the best
Caddy traditions - all for a terrific price.
Cadillacs of this era are opulence on wheels. Everything from the
flying lady hood ornament to the gas cap hidden behind a flip-up
taillight is designed to make every other driver jealous. The
factory-correct Corinth Blue was resprayed about 20 years ago, and
so it retains a nice shine while still never being so perfect that
you would be afraid to take it out for a drive. And of course,
everyone knows the true standout is the brightwork. The huge
form-hugging bumpers, intricate trim, long V badging, factory wheel
covers, and everything else is complete on this example. It's a
true exercise in style where the grille seamlessly flows into the
wraparound front trim and then through the door line. All these
details wouldn't look so great if it were not for body panels that
have been treated with respect for seven decades. In fact, we have
hand-written notes from the previous two owners detailing the work
they did to this car. It includes the attractive shade of Burgundy
Maroon Metallic paint that was done in 2014. The interior was
refinished later in life, but they made sure to give it a proper
vintage style. So you'll like the appearance, right down to the
button-top presentation. And this two-tone tan is so attractive
against the exterior burgundy, that we know you'll leave all the
windows down on this pillarless hardtop just so people can get a
better look inside. This has a nice detailed style with good
extras, like the rear accent cushions, a fully carpeted trunk, and
a retro-style AM/FM/cassette radio that allows for upgraded driving
music. And you really get the classic Caddy cruiser feeling every
time you feel the grooves of the thin/grippy steering wheel and
look out at the art deco style gauge package.
Power comes from Cadillac's famous 331 cubic-inch OHV V8. This was
a motor that was both hardy and smooth from day one. And has been a
solid investment in this powerhouse. Part of the previous owner's
notes mention a rebuild around 2012. Since then the motor has had
newer items like the alternator and wiring harness. And iconic
pieces have been given some added distinction in places like the
blue valve covers and the air grabber that became a hot rodder's
favorite. More than just look good, this is the kind of classic
that's ready to hit the road. With the Hydramatic automatic
transmission, power steering, the hypnotic hum of the dual exhaust,
and Cadillac's legendary ride quality, this is how you want vintage
cruising to be.
