Vehicle Description
2002 Ford F150 Harley-Davidson Edition
Low, loud, and menacing. That describes the unique machinery that's
rolled out of Harley-Davidson for decades. Likewise, it's also an
apt summary of the latest limited-edition truck from Ford. H-D and
Ford inked a five-year plan for cooperative products starting in
2000. Since then, Ford has introduced a truck each year. Both the
2000 and '01 models were derivatives built on the F-150 platform.
The '02 Edition successfully captures the spirit of
Harley-Davidson: brash, strong, American. Louis Netz, director of
styling at Harley, and Willie G. Davidson, vice president of
styling and descendent of the company founder, worked with the
design team at Ford to pen this bold rolling statement. Thx to
David Newhardt/Motor Trend.
For consignment, a beloved, (by our consignor), Ford F150 Harley
Davidson edition with which he put his heart, soul, and wallet into
this truck with many upgrades, paint, interior add ons, and regular
maintenance. Now we have a beautiful example much better than
factory and all in tribute to the iconic motorcycle company. Read
on and don't "hog" the road!
Exterior
Starting with the cowl hood which is all steel and bathed in PPG
Cinnamon Stick Pearl as a two-tone accent to the original Dark
Shadow Gray Metallic. This was all clear coated and now shines much
nicer than the factory applied paint. No rust and 4 doors with
nicely minded gaps have Amp Research retractable side steps in
chrome tubing. On the roof is a sunroof which is power operated.
This bed was totally repainted and now shows beautifully with no
scratches. A reversible cage is within this bed and can be hung off
the rear gate to keep cargo secure when the gate is down.
Interestingly a red flame emits from what starts upfront as a wide
pinstripe then turns to licking flies on the delineation between
the gray and cinnamon. The bed is topped with a piston operated
Undercover hard bed covering and is all in matching gray metallic.
Harley Davidson badges are put on in conjunction with the Ford F150
badging, and these are also seen on the mud flaps. Dual exhaust
tips peek out from underneath the rear of the truck. Some extra LED
lighting along with the upgraded head and tail lighting adds some
eye candy at night. Nice 20-inch wheels upgraded from the factory
smaller wheels and tires give this truck a great stance and much
heavier carrying capacity. A truly beautiful paint scheme in design
and application.
Drivetrain
Under the cowled hood is a nifty 5.4 liter SOHC supercharged V8.
The supercharger has been fitted with a larger lower belt pulley
which makes the supercharger spool up faster and has a damn cool
whistle sound to it. The mill is fed by EFI, and on the back is a
4R100 4-speed automatic with a Dana 60 3.73 posi rear axle.
Dynatech headers are on for the assist to the exhale, and in full
stainless steel.
Undercarriage
Full on body and chassis corrosion protection is in all the nooks
and crannies of the inner body and frame cavities. Wilwood multi
piston disc braking is on all 4 corners as are Bilstein shocks. A
Helwig rear sway bar is on and an aluminum diff covering brightens
up the Dana 60. New ball joints have replaced the worn old factory
joints.
Drive-Ability
With the side steps magically reaching out for me to step inside I
felt fairly flossy when I did so. Here I cranked 'er up and it ran
like a Swiss watch. Excellent neck snapping acceleration, great
handling with the larger tires and wheels, and all functions
meaning all these buttons were working swimmingly. An excellent
experience, and the sound from that supercharger is
exhilarating!
A tribute to the classic MC company HD! Custom paint, and some
extras one the performance and handling front, all buttoned up and
now I have a soft, (tail), spot for this beautiful F150 which is
like none other. Knucklehead writer!
