For Sale: 1949 Chevrolet 3100 in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

There's a funny thing about nostalgia, we tend to elevate the good memories and throw away the bad. That seems like the exact aim they had when restoring this 1949 Chevrolet 3100.

This idea or rosy-eyed nostalgia starts with the paint. After all, these came in red, but they could have never come up with anything as deep and glossy as this finish. This modern application does an even better job of letting the sunlight reveal all your favorite curves. These Advance Design pickups represented the post-WWII optimism with well-rounded lines and a ton of brightwork. Oh yes, they invested heavily in making sure the bumpers, two-piece wheel covers, five-piece grille, and so much more shine like mirrors. And take a little extra time with the details. The white background in the grille is factory-correct, and it coordinates nicely with the wide whitewalls to create almost the subtlest of two-tones. Or maybe it's black that's the real two-tone with the running boards, steel wheels, tailgate lettering, and pinstripe circling the cab. As you dig further into the details, you'll find items like real textured lumber in the truck bed, a windshield sunshade, and even a chrome brush guard to remind you of its workman days (that have now been long erased with gloss and chrome.)

Nostalgia also means not over-reaching into modern times, and this interior gives that ideal time capsule feeling. A taut bench seat, smooth paint on the door panels, and an Art Deco dash gleaming brightly offer true vintage appeal. Clear gauges and a heater are the best amenities of the day. And when you grab the large three-spoke steering wheel, you can almost feel hints of all the generations that came before you in the grooves.

Under the hood is a 235 cubic-inch inline-six. It's an upgrade in displacement over what was available in the 3100 for '49 without losing the iconic Thriftmaster/Stovebolt attitude. In fact, we know you'll love showing off the detailed vintage presentation with the freshly painted gray motor and all the gloss black components. With so much recently invested in this truck, it starts and runs as cleanly as it looks. You even control this motor the old-fashioned way with the column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.

This pickup has the fresh style to be proper nostalgia, and it's ready to hit the road right now.
