979 CHEVROLET CORVETTE
History
The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by
Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and
chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous
generation, but the body and interior were all new.
The stunning red/red restored 1979 Chevrolet Corvette we have here
at Adventure Classics saw the return of the crossed-flag emblems as
well as three popular features introduced on the '78 pace car
replicas, the new bucket seats, the front and rear spoiler package,
and the roof panels.
Mechanical
The engine in our Vette is the base L-48 engine which generated 195
horsepower. Output for all engines increased due to new "open flow"
mufflers. The dual-snorkel air intake introduced on L-82 cars the
previous year was now fitted to all cars including ours. It
connects to the front with tubes to bring a fresh supply of air at
all times.
The engine looks as it did new from the factory with its correct
blue painted engine block, intake, and factory valve covers,
four-barrel carb, ignition shielding, power steering and power disc
brakes, air conditioning and all other factory parts looking stock
as well.
Our 79 Vette is shifted by a 4-speed manual transmission and rides
on Grand Prix Performance GT raised white letter tires mounted on
the factory Corvette styled wheels, with a great exhaust note
emanating from the true dual exhaust system tips in the rear.
Interior
The striking red interior features the new lightweight "high back"
seats that were made standard equipment in 1979. The new seats have
better side bolster, provide easier access to the rear storage
area, and the seat pair resulted in a weight reduction of about 24
pounds.
It has a great stereo system with its Pioneer Stereo AM-FM radio,
factory red dash with all the controls and gauges including the
tachometer, red leather Corvette steering wheel, great red door
panels and carpet, and the 4-speed manual shifter in the center
console.
Exterior
The red paint looks great over the Corvette's sleek body and L-48
emblem adorned hood with the rocker panels painted black, front and
rear spoilers were offered as an option and functionally the
spoilers decrease drag by about 15% and increased fuel economy by
about a half-mile per gallon.
The roof T-tops are painted a matching red body make an open air
ride a reality when they are stored in the cargo area underneath
the rear window.

If you are looking for a high quality C3 Corvette, then look no
