Vehicle Description
Beautifully kept Road Runner with all number's matching 383ci V8
drivetrain! Fitted with bucket seats, center console, TorqueFlite
automatic, Sure-Grip axle, heavy duty suspension & brakes, and Air
Grabber intake! A wonderfully kept older restoration with full
comprehensive service in 2021! Awesome exhaust sound!
Named for the popular Warner Brothers cartoon character, the Road
Runner, Plymouth manufactured it with no frills and few amenities
in order to save cost and weight on top of the Belvedere platform.
It would have the cartoon's famous "Beep Beep" sounding horn as
standard equipment of course! Known for being far less fragile than
its competitors at Ford and Chevrolet, the Road Runner was
preferred by those who desired serious street applications in
high-performance cars and is fabled to have been the favorite of
Moon Shiners based on its power, light weight, ground clearance,
and greater durability than its law enforcement counterparts. It
would hit showrooms for the first time in 1968 with Plymouth
engineers hoping to see 20,000 units produced. Their popularity
achieved more than twice that figure! And today, these early Road
Runners continue to be a favorite among MOPAR collectors and muscle
car enthusiasts alike!
Offered here is a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner Hardtop finished in code
correct F8- Ivy Green Metallic over M6F- White/Green combination
vinyl bucket seat interior. Powered by its number's matching
383ci-4bbl V8 engine, center console-shifted A727 Torqueflite
3-speed automatic transmission and 3.23 Sure-Grip 8 axle! This
Road Runner comes with only the general go-fast amenities to
include heavy duty brakes, heavy duty suspension, dash tachometer,
basic solid state AM pushbutton radio with rear seat speakers,
heat/defrost, upgraded chrome 14" Cragar SS mags wheels wrapped in
staggered BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 205/70 up front
and 225/70 at the rear, front sway bar, 3-speed wipers, day/night
rearview mirror, front and rear seatbelts, and rubber floor
mats.
It showcases an older cosmetic restoration that has held up
extremely well over the years. In proper fashion, all necessary
components were removed including all glass to perform a
professional base coat/ clear coat finish to the exterior, door
jams, engine compartment surround and interior trunk compartment.
Panel gaps and fitment remain as it left the factory, very tight
with everything opening and closing perfectly. The original Antique
Green vinyl top was replaced for a White vinyl top in the process.
A very good decision in our opinion. All new window seals and soft
body weather stripping were installed upon the approximate
completion in the late 1990's. The trunk seal was replaced again in
2021. A set of original Magnum 500 wheels are included with the
sale.
More recently in 2021, it received a comprehensive mechanical
servicing to include a new stainless steel fuel tank & lines,
professionally rebuilt Carter carburetor, new fuel pump & filter;
fresh Champion spark plugs, air filter & OEM plug wires; correct
2875731 distributor & date coded coil; complete engine wiring
harness, starter relay, voltage regulator & proper alternator; new
timing chain kit & oil seal; cleaned/repaired original radiator
with new OEM style upper/lower hoses & heater hoses, proper pinch
style clamps, thermostat & housing, & new water pump; all new brake
system components with exception to the rear drums. It was upgraded
with a power brake booster system and new dual master cylinder,
then finished with a completely new OEM exhaust system with
polished tips! A solid and reliable performer with a beautifully
fresh under hood presentation! It will come with an original order
broadcast sheet, reproduction window sticker, recent service &
parts records, as well as copies of original Plymouth
advertisements. Act quickly, we never keep these Road Runners very
long!!
