For Sale: 1964 Chevrolet Corvette in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

We've featured some really cool Corvette resto-mods over the past few years. And this handsome, drop-top Sting Ray is the latest in a long line of metal that seems to come in, spend one week being universally admired, and disappear to a new home. For most enthusiasts, resto-mods are the perfect compromise between reliable performance and vintage style. And, lets' face it, who doesn't enjoy cruising a storied classic that mixes the best attributes of old school Detroit muscle with the swift performance of modern American iron? Wrapping an upgraded drivetrain in an upgraded chassis and a tasteful restoration, this sweet Chevy is an impressive classic that'll fare well on the road AND at the show!

EFFORTLESSLY ENDURING

The beneficiary of acute restoration that focused on both looks and drivability, this clean drop-top is a first class resto-mod that's fully sorted and ready to roll. The car's sculpted body gets capped by tight Black canvas, and that canvas floats effortlessly amid rich black two-stage that's iced with a painted hood stripe. At the front of that stripe, polished bumpers center a stainless-trimmed grille between small, bullet-style parking lamps. Behind those lamps, an ornate header emblem leads a '66 Corvette Big Block Hood, which fronts stainless-trimmed glass and muted wipers. At the edges of those blades, a louvered profile floats polished handles and a familiar bowtie mirror above classy fender emblems and textured rocker guards. Behind those shields, two more polished bumpers split a polished tag pocket and polished exhaust tips. And at the back of the car, a requisite Corvette deck script splits a flashy fuel filler and sporty taillights.

THREE-FIFTY, FOUR-HUNDRED

Hoist this Vette's retrofitted hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of reliable Chevy small block that was sourced directly from the pros at Kearney, Nebraska's BluePrint Engines! At the top of that mill, a polished air cleaner dumps wind through a coated Holley 4-barrel that's laced with polished stainless fuel lines. Under that carb, a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake reflects polished valve covers, which are sandwiched between aluminum heads and a polished stainless breather. Coated Hedman Hedders split loomed MSD Street Fire Wires, which siphon sparks from a hot HEI distributor. In front of those wires, pliable V-belts spin a modern alternator opposite a coated AC compressor. A big aluminum radiator fronts dual electric puller fans. And it all adds up to a solid 400 dyno-proven horsepower!

GO LIKE NEW!

Park this Sting Ray on a lift and you'll find a thoughtfully upgraded chassis that's clean, mean and ready to roll! Behind the stout small block, a tough Tremec 5-speed twists power to a requisite Dana 44 rear-clip. That drivetrain pushes a fully independent suspension that's been upgraded with a Van Steel sway bar, modern control arms and quality Viking coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of traditional power steering. Power-assisted stops are provided by painted Delco calipers. The aforementioned headers growl through large-diameter pipes, which thread throaty MagnaFlow mufflers. And this Chevy's lowered ride height looks great buckled down around 18-inch Cragar 610Cs and sticky BF Goodrich tires.

CUSTOM CLASS

Slip in to this Sting Ray's tailored cockpit and settle on firm bucket seats that stretch intricate, red-stitched leather under tall, retrofitted headrests. A familiar dual-cowl dash hangs upgraded telemetry beside controls for Vintage Air conditioning and Bluetooth-capable Retrosound audio. A shallow console traces a tasteful shifter. Custom side panels, patterned in diamonds to match the car's handsome seats, border fade-free carpet that's protected by Corvette-themed mats. And in front of the driver, a polished and wood-rimmed steering wheel laps a stylish Corvette horn button.

Who doesn't want a second-generation Corvette that looks classic and drives modern? Thanks to great restoration, this svelte convertible retains authentic Motor City feel while adding modern components to an already awesome ownership experience. In the market for a storied collector car that's fully detailed and ready to hit the road? Welcome to the Chevrolet family!
