Prior to purchasing the car, the matching numbers engine and transmission were disassembled and completely rebuilt by Rennewerk Porsche in Elmsford, NY. The rebuilt engine and transmission have approximately 13,000 miles. The speedometer is at 70,000
Rennewerk Porsche has meticulously maintained the car over the last 16 years for me and from 1998 from the previous owner. Receipts for all, including earlier owner.
Separate from the complete engine and transmission rebuild, which was done in 2004, the following additional work has been performed:
Oil change and basic maintenance every 3,000 miles
All gauges and clock have been cleaned and or repaired and refinished by 914 Limited
New carpeting / New custom mats
New Front shocks
New Porsche Speaker covers
Original Fuchs aluminum rims polished / chrome Porsche Center Caps
New wiper blades
Replaced left and right door handles with new Porsche handles
New Bursch Muffler
Stainless Steel heat exchangers from 914 Limited
Replaced rocker panel covers in 2021
The car was originally painted factory metallic Blue, but was changed to Red from the prior owner in approximately 2004. There are a few very small areas of rust at the bottom of the outside drivers side windshield post and inside the passengers side back trunk and there’s a small dent in the front drivers side chrome bumper that’s barely noticeable. No rust in usual places - at the pillars or battery area. Overall the car looks really great, but there are a couple very small dings and 2 scratches on each of the front fenders. I took photos of all. The dash has a cover on it and the radio is original, but is currently not working. I never bothered to have it repaired as I love to hear the sound of the engine while driving.
The car runs as new and has been pampered the entire time I have owned it. With new paint it would be a concourse car. Concourse Original 1973 914's are now being sold for up to $90,000, according to Panorama'a price guide from Hagerty.
