This 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat is an extremely nice truck that
came from the Pacific NW. We love the trucks from this region
because they are solid, clean, and well maintained. This particular
truck is all of those things plus it has some nice updates. The
body on this rig iis in great shape. It is very clean and straight
original truck. there are no rust issues with this truck and we
found no evidence of rust or rust repair. This truck was originally
Dark Brown Metallic but it was completely stripped and repainted
the Ford color of Candy Apple Red. They did a really nice job on
the repaint and it looks wonderful. All of the moldings are
original and in great condition. Check out the underside photos and
you will see a clean undercarriage. They added a headache rack at
some point and the bed was line-exed. The interior is also in
excellent condition. The bench seat was recovered, it has newer
carpet, a new steering wheel, new headliner, new dash pad, and an
upgraded stereo. Headlights, Tail lights, brake lights, and
blinkers are working. The gauges are all working and the horn
,heat, ac, and wipers are working too.
Mechanically this truck is top notch and it runs and drives really
nice. This particular F150 came originally with a 351M V8, but it
was upgraded to a mildly built 460 V8 that runs really strong and
we found no issues or red flags. They added an Edelbrock aluminum
intake, Holley 4 Barrel Carb, and stainless headers with custom
dual exhaust. They also replaced the starter, alternator,
distributor, and ac compressor when swapped. Unsure how many miles
are on the engine, but based on how strong it runs and no issues
like smoke, noises, etc, it should be good to go for a long time.
The transmission is the C6 Automatic that was also rebuilt by the
last owner. It shifts great and it is mated to the np205 transfer
case. The 4WD works like it should. It has a Ford 9" ear End with
3.50 gears and a Dana 44 Front Axle with 3.50 gears. This truck
sits on a nice 4" lift with Rancho Shocks and new front end
bushings. It has aluminum wheels with newer Faken Rubitrek All
terrain Tires (285/75/16). This truck runs and drive
wonderful!!!
