Check out this great looking 1951 Ford F1 pickup with V8 Ford power
and custom touches throughout. This example is the perfect mix of
vintage-original styling combined with a host of specialized, more
modern components, from the more powerful and capable engine, to
the aftermarket suspension.
Starting out with a clean, stock F1 - the body was painted in a
tasteful dark blue hue that works perfectly with a set of
contrasting polished aluminum Ansen Sprint style wheels. While
keeping the vintage theme, the 15x7 mags each wear 1" white wall
tires measuring 215/75/15 up front, with 235/75/15's out back - a
classic look that demands attention!
Going underneath you will find the stock frame in excellent
condition. The front suspension has been replaced with an
aftermarket "Mustang II" system utilizing upper and lower control
arms with coil springs and rack-and-pinion steering for a
much-improved, very enjoyable, driving experience. The rear
suspension consists of factory style leaf springs mounted to a Ford
9" rear axle assembly. This classic rear set-up is simple, yet
works perfectly providing a nice, smooth ride. Stopping power is
provided by manual rear drum and front disc brakes while an
adjustable proportioning valve balances the fluid flow.
Under the hood you will find the popular 351 Windsor between the
frame rails mated to a Ford C6 automatic transmission for its
strength and reliability. Cooling duties are handled by an aluminum
radiator for its efficient cooling characteristics and lighter
weight, while the 351's exhaust is sent out through factory
manifolds, connected to a custom true dual exhaust system that
exits under the rear bumper for a nice, throaty sound.
Going inside the cab you will find a beautiful interior done in
contrasting tan and blue. Custom panels were made to cover the
doors, a custom headliner above, with a tan vinyl bench seat cover
accented with blue stitching throughout. Seat belts were installed
for added safety since the 1951 model year didn't require them. To
keep things warm, an aftermarket, under-dash mounted heater system
keeps you comfortable on those chilly evening cruises, while the
factory cowl air intake door functions perfectly to let in cooler
air when necessary. The factory dash was preserved and fitted with
vintage styled, aftermarket gauges including: speedometer, oil
pressure, coolant temperature and voltage.
External touches include roof mounted running lights that fit the
overall theme of this truck perfectly, custom running boards and
bed-floor made from simulated wood, large side view mirrors, and a
spare tire mounted behind the cab in the bed area.
