Vehicle Description
This 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner is a classic cruiser with a
fantastic 50s look! Initially debuting in 1955, the Ford Fairlane
supplanted the Crestline as the top of the line model for Ford,
besides the sportier Thunderbirds which debuted the same year.
These new Fairlanes were completely redesigned, distinguishing
themselves from the previous Crestline models. While the new
Fairlane design was influenced by the new flagship Thunderbirds,
they maintained their own unique styling with special "V" shaped
side trim along with longer, lower, and wider bodies. Due to the
success of the '55 Fairlane models, little changed with regards to
the exterior design for the following year models. Among those
minor changes in the '56 Fairlane were new taillights that were
larger with chrome rings around them, new oval shaped parking
lights which replaced the previously round ones, and slightly
different side trim. The biggest changes for the 1956 Fords
occurred under the hoods and in the passenger cabins. The
electrical systems in 1956 were upgraded to the more reliable 12
volt and the instrument cluster and steering wheels also underwent
design changes. Interestingly, the name "Fairlane" came from Henry
and Clara Ford's "Fair Lane" Estate located on 1,300 acres in
Dearborn, Michigan, which by 1956 was owned and used by the Ford
Motor Company as a corporate conference center and tourist
destination. This particular 1956 Fairlane Sunliner comes to us
from private east coast collection. Under the hood on this '56 Ford
is a 292 Cubic Inch V8 engine that is paired with a single 4 barrel
carburetor that pushed out 200 horsepower in its day. The 292 V8 is
hooked up to an Automatic transmission that just about anybody can
drive. Bringing this 1956 Sunliner to a stop is made easier with
power brakes with an upgraded dual master cylinder. This '56 Ford
Sunliner has been repainted in its original color scheme of Fiesta
Red and Colonial White. A rear mounted continental kit adds to the
classic 50s look of the car. This classic Ford sits on 4 wide
whitewall radial tires on wire wheels with spinner hubcaps that
make for a great looking and even better riding classic car. The
white vinyl power convertible top is in fantastic condition and
goes up and down with the simple toggle of a switch mounted under
the dash. The red and white vinyl bench seats are in wonderful
condition and are just how this Ford came when it rolled off the
Atlanta factory floor in 1956. The dash, door panels, and steering
wheel all have a nice stock look as well as does the dash-mounted
AM radio. The instrument cluster is in its stock configuration and
is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, fuel
gauge, and clock along with oil pressure and generator indicator
lights. Whether you're looking for your very first classic car from
the 1950s or you are looking to add another driver to your
collection, this 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner would be a marvelous
choice. Give us a call today!
