Vehicle Description
This 2002 Ford Thunderbird was bought to be a classic from day one.
That's why it has been cherished with only 16,800 miles on the
odometer and comes with terrific paperwork. But a modern
collectible can be enjoyed, too. After all, with a smooth V8,
loaded A/C interior, removable hardtop, and well-coordinated
presentation, this knows how to be an elegant cruiser.
This was the debut year for the retro-styled final-generation
Thunderbird. So it's great to see this maximizing its classic-style
appeal. The bold Torch Red is borrowed from the original '55 T-Bird
palette, but it has the luster of a modern clearcoat. This factory
paint is on a car that has averaged under 900 miles annually, and
so that level of less use shows in the way it loves to radiate in
the light. And speaking of radiance, they gave these the right
brightwork package with the intricate grille, hood scoop trim,
polished 17-inch alloys, fender vent trim, and dual exhaust tips.
It helps highlight some of the best classic pieces without looking
ostentatious. After all, these T-Birds were inspired by the
original, but they have their own sleeker design. And the crisp
body panels on this low mileage example really show that off
nicely.
The hardtop gives you the iconic porthole style, and the folding
roof is a great way to keep the weather out in a pinch. But the
reason you're going to really like this Thunderbird is because of
how it looks with no roof at all. The full red insert package was
one of the few options that were available on these already loaded
cars. So you not only get a great color to coordinate with the
exterior, but also you have a rare feature that adds to the
collectability. Low mileage means less seat time, and so you have a
clean and complete style that shows little wear. Ford gave these
all the best features, including a premium AM/FM/CD stereo,
driver's power seat, power windows, power locks, power steering,
alarm system, dual front airbags, side airbags, and anti-lock
brakes, cruise control, and a power convertible top. And the
dual-zone A/C automatic climate control is great for dialing-in
individual comfort even when the top is down. In fact, the only
thing on this car that's not stock is the cooler behind the seats.
It's perfect for a picnic drive, and nothing is mounted, so it
doesn't take away from the originality.
The fuel-injected 3.9-liter DOHC V8 was also used in Lincolns and
Jaguars in this era, and so it was the perfect powerplant for this
T-Bird. As expected with a car this kind of low mileage, this is
the original motor and it has been well maintained. The multi-valve
motor and five-speed automatic transmission are a great pairing for
giving you confident cruising power with plenty in reserve at all
times. And the fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc
brakes, and Michelin touring tires mean this one is ready to add
serious mileage to the odometer any time you're ready.
The sale comes complete with terrific paperwork. This includes the
dealer invoice, original window sticker, factory buildsheet, bill
of sale, owner's manual, maintenance records, and previous
registrations. This has the style, history, and pedigree you want
in a modern V8 classic. So don't miss this low-mileage T-bird. Call
